Meanwhile, an Interactive Graphic Novel Now Available for iOS
Interactive app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch available for download.
Zarfhome Software announced the release of Meanwhile for iOS today, an interactive graphic novel by Jason Shiga, for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.
The story starts out innocently enough, with little Jimmy heading home from the ice cream store. Jimmy then discovers a mad scientist's devices, a mind-reading helmet, a time machine and a doomsday device. In a style that gives homage to "choose your own adventure" books, it is up to the reader/player to choose which one to test out first.
With a combination of artwork, story and pathways that can form a looping, branching narrative, where a reader/player's actions and choices are surrounded by a cloud of possibilities that you didn't chose. Meanwhile is done entirely on a single, enormous page that allows readers/players to zoom in and out and follow their pathways.
Meanwhile is also one of the few graphic novels that is fully playable through VoiceOver, the function that allows the visually impaired to join in on the adventure.
