Life is Strange Screens Dec 17, 2014

A revealing Developer Diary provides a great overview of upcoming release Life is Strange. Due out on January 31, 2015, Life is Strange is the second title of Dontnod Entertainment, following the 2013 release of Remember Me.

Life is Strange is a coming of age story that focuses on Max, a teenager who moves back to her hometown after five years to find her friend Max profoundly changed after Rachel Amber, her best friend, went missing. The gameplay mechanics consist of player choices which will have "butterfly effects," and a novel time rewind mechanic that the player will use to uncover story elements.

The Video Diary introduces many of the people behind the game as they discuss the inspirations that motivated them. The passion and pride of the developers in Life is Strange is clear, including their love for the adventure game genre.

Notably, Dontnod praised Square Enix as the only publisher who didn't want to change a thing about the game. Some of the publishers they spoke with wanted Dontnod to change the lead protagonist to a male character.

Life is Strange will be a five part episodic adventure.
