The Fall is a cinematic platformer from indie developer Over the Moon that flips convention slightly on its head. Its story is patterned on classic sci-fi and is particularly influenced Asimov (I, Robot).
You play the role of ARID, a virtual intelligence onboard an armored combat suit. ARID is activated when the suit's human pilot is injured and rendered unconscious. She must take control of the suit and move the pilot's unconscious body towards help.
ARID is bound by her laws of robotics, and struggles with her own self-limitation. As players progress through The Fall, they must help her find contradictions in her rigid set of rules allowing her to break them, gain some personal choice, and eventually start developing an identity outside of simplistic servitude.
The game will be released for PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, PS Vita and Ouya. Its anticipated release date is April 14, 2014.
Over The Moon was founded in January 2013 by John Warner, who is currently the company's sole developer. Before founding Over The Moon, John had worked extensively in the games industry on projects ranging from startups, where he worked on several indie games such as Raycatcher, Toppling Towers, and Kaia's Quest, to larger AAA studios, where he worked on games like Company of Heroes and Dawn of War II.
John has exhausted his savings and is currently promoting a Kickstarter campaign for The Fall.
