Doron Kanaan of Cellar Door Interactive: The '80s were an amazing decade for horror movies, especially those involving children as the protagonists. They became almost a sub-genre that sadly died when the decade was over, and we felt it would be amazing to relive it in a point-and-click adventure game – one of my biggest passions.

Rose: Time Apart pays homage to such '80s "kids in danger" movies as Gremlins, The Gate, Troll and Monster Squad.

Rose is a 12-year-old girl who was diagnosed as having a psychological disorder at age 6, and whose courage and curiosity know no bounds (think: a modern-day female version of Mikey from The Goonies).

A nearby house, the subject of myth and legend, has stood abandoned for over 30 years. It hides a mystery surrounding the death of Gilda Gudjohnsen and the disappearance of her husband, Dr. Henry Gudjohnsen. This has caused many to believe that something sinister lurks behind the fence with the aging "keep out" sign.

Rose, her brother and two friends unwittingly enter the house. In order to leave, the truth about Dr. Henry Gudjonsen's obsession must be discovered and the mystery must be solved.

Rose is being developed with the Unity engine. It will be available for PC, Mac and Ouya first, then Windows Phone 8, Android and iOS later.

A demo of the game can already be found on Ouya, but Cellar Door wants to give it an extensive overhaul. Doron Kanaan: We are turning to Kickstarter because we want to release Rose’s full potential. We are extremely dedicated to creating the best possible experience, and for that we need the community’s help.

The Kickstarter campaign, with a goal of $10,000, will run until September 9, 2014.
