Deleted UserJust a curiousity. If its a locked topic, whats it about anyway?Privacy or something?Who could only view it?

Deleted UserA locked topic is a topic that noone can post in anymore. (Anyone can still read it, though.) This usually happens when moderators decide that the topic has deviated too much from the subject(s) it should be discussing (sometimes they then copy it to another, more appropriate forum, where it remains open). Another common reason for locking a topic is that the persons posting there has stopped discussing in a rational manner and are instead attacking each other with insults about intelligence, personal hygiene etc. Or maybe someone starts a rebellion against the forum moderators (which can happen if they lock too many topics
).

Jonas:

Funny, embarassing and slightly relevant story: The first time I came across an Internet forum that used the "hot topic" marker, I made somewhat of a fool out of myself. I'm a "when all else fails, read the manual" kind of person, and when I saw the icons for "hot topic", which on that particular forum was a burning folder, I naturally assumed that this was meant as a warning from the moderators: Flamewar going on. :
Now, considering that hot topics often contain heated discussions, I was not immediately disabused of this erroneous assumption, and one of my first posts to that forum was one of complaint to the moderators. I felt they were very harsh in what they chose to label flamewars... :-[
