Well, I tend to have half a dozen games or so going at the same time, unless something like Riven, Syberia or The Longest Journey really pulls me in and refuses to let me out.

Right now, I'm playing The Watchmaker, Omikron (aka The Nomad Soul), and American McGee's Alice--absolutely stunning game. Twisted. Yes. Sadly repetitive game play and ultra-linear, but quite an experience nonetheless.

I'm also going through the No One Lives Forever 2 Demo (157MB download. Wow.) Great voices, stunning graphics and Austin Powers-esque feel. Very cool.  I'm mostly an adventure gamer, but I like variety. The action titles usually get the better of me though and I end up hunting the Web for cheats and have more saved game files than I care to think about.

For sheer shoot-em-up violence I play Unreal Tournement and it's beefed up, bleeding-edge sequel Unreal Tournament 2003. They really went all out on the graphics. Reminds me of the Myst series oddly enough. For even more lunacy of the violent I dip into Serious Sam: Second Encounter.

Eventually though I'll head back to puzzle-solving and try to finish that well-known brain-buster Schizm.

Cheers, Omnia

Well right now I'm not playing anything, but I am MAKING "Harvest"  http://members.aol.com/harvestgame
unabashedly shameful plug)

I WAS playing "Physicus" before I got so involved in my current venture.  I was really enjoying it.  I was surprised at how "fun" it was to "learn" about electricity.

Right now I am playign Syberia and Largo Winch. Syberia is one of the greatest games I've ever played so far and I'm looking forward to the end.

Largo Winch is ok but not a classic. I personally hate keyboard-controlled adventures (big fan of point & click) and the story while is ok, is not something really well planned.

I'm thinking of re-playing my all time favourite gabriel knight 2 the beast within when I find some more time from college, and when I finish that I will replay the 3 part.

I'm also replaying The Longest Journey in the swedish version cause I want to improve my abilities on that language but it goes quite slow cause I have to check my dictionary quite often. As u remember Longest Journey contained a lot of words that someone does not use everyday (since someone would not normally shift to an alternative world of magic

Haven't bought a new in adventure in what feels like forever, but I've been replaying Gabriel Knight 3 and The Longest Journey. I really need to buy a new adventure game, I think I'm starting to show signs of  withdrawal.

Deleted UserI am replaying an oldie but goodie - Sherlock Holmes:  Case of The Rose Tattoo - partially for entertainment and partly to refresh my memory for a JA review.  I have also finished the first 2 acts of Faust.  Sherlock is an excellent game.  The graphics and technical portions are a bit dated but the storlyline and characters are very good.  I don't have a firm committment to finishing Faust.  Thus far, it has not captured my heart.

Jonas, you can't play games.  You are too busy developing one.

Omnia, tell me more about American McGee's Alice.  I have it but it remains unplayed.  The action component intimidates me.  Did you play in the God Mode?

MCB841, somehow I have missed your game but will get it into the Schedule of Releases for next week.  Sooo sorry. :'(

I still have Syberia to look forward to.  I had a technical problem that I have taken care of.  I will get back to it soon.

I have Outcast and Anachronox both in process... but, it's been so long since I played that I'm having trouble jumping back into either of them and knowing where I am.
Solution?  BUY A NEW GAME!  Just started Amerzone last night after loving Syberia...
I think I can stick with this one and finish it....

Advice to ravensbreed

If u want an advice, u should buy syberia. If u liked Longest Journey and Gabriel Knight I think Syberia will do the trick also!

I'm playing it right now and I have to admit that I haven't had such fun playing a game since TLJ. TLJ is a little bit better but Syberia is a classic also. U might want to give it a try, since u are looking for a new game.

Harriet, well, I avoided God mode for about maybe a full oh, 1/3 of the game, but I broke down eventually, fired up the console and gave Alice godlike powers. I then used a walkthrough for strategy to beat the bosses (which are pretty tough). Guess I really pulled out all the stops on the cheating front, but I get frustrated easily I guess. Oh well.

The visual splendor of the game gives it a certain amount of replayability so I'll probably pop back in and try my skills later. The AI is nearly non-existent so it can be amusing to try various tactics that simply wouldn't work if the AI were better.

I went for medium level (not a good idea for me but I was ambitious). Now I'm about 3/4 of the way through and use God mode depending on my mood though more often than not, mostly because I tire of dying and it's more or less the same thing over and over. There's still a little bit of skill involved because of the jumping and the intricacy of the maps (really easy to get lost sometimes).

However, all that said, the music, voice acting and graphics make it all a worthwhile effort. And there's also the noble plot of trying to save Alice's mind as well. I'd say it's definitely worth a try and some of the levels are simply a joy to battle the forces of McGee's twisted Wonderland in. One level is set in black and white with red chess pieces as your foes and it's sort of ike something MC Escher would come up with. Simply amazing.

So I leave you with a quote from the Cheshire Cat early on in the game.
A journey begins with a single step. Trite but true, even here.

Enjoy. If you do give it try let me know what you think. I'm curious...
Cheers, Omnia

Thanx for the advise, dimidimidimi. Syberia just arrived in the shops here (New Zealand) and I'll be picking up a copy as soon as I can afford it. Unfortunately I'm a penniless university student and annoying things like real-life keep getting in my way.

I've just finished re-playing Gabe Knight 3, this time without having to run for help at the increadably evil 'Le Serpent Rogue' puzzle. Felt so good to finish that one on my own this time.
But right now, I'm playing Legend of Dragoon. It's not strictly an adventure game, but I am partial to the occasional RPG now and then. Besides, I'm saving Syberia for my birthday

-Edit-
Just to mention though, I don't get much time to play games at present because I'm currently completely immersed in 'The Witching Hour'. Lovely book.

Well, my first post....Hello.

This week I have been mostly playing -

Unreal Tournament 2003
Excellent graphics and quite fun but these tournament
style FPS have a very limited appeal for me. It'll
be interesting to see what kinds of mods are
created a few months down the line.

The Thing
Reasonably good survival horror but not as good as
it could have been. Too many scripted sequences, too
short and could have done with some more puzzles
and NPC interaction. Also it's a pretty poor port over
 from the consoles

Prisoner of War
Bleuch! Another console port with rubbish controls,
clunky graphics, HUGE text font and no quicksave.
Quite a good concept though, but the original Escape
from Colditz (is that the right title, I can't remember?)
was better. (And this was on the spectrum!)

Gabrial Knight : Sins of the Father
A classic, but the sound won't work on my PC, Boo!

Also, does anyone know if Syberia is released yet in the
UK, as I haven't seen it in any shops (though that's
hardly suprising given the way high street stores treat
certain genres).

I'm replaying Return to Castle Wolfenstein! It's really great!

Adventurewise I have LOADS of games on my "to be played list", but right now I'm really into shooters. Can't wait to get my hands on NOLF 2!

The shooters have really become more focused on story and immersive gameplay these days.

Myriex, yup, NOLF2 looks (and sounds) great. I'm playing the demo now. I'll be picking up NOLF 1 soon I think.
I also probably won't be able to stay away from Thief, Thief II and Deus Ex, if I can find them here in Japan. Seems like titles with excellent change-of-pace stealth tactics and great replayability.
Happy stealthing,
Cheers, Omnia

Aahh, Thief......

....just thinking about "Return to the Haunted Cathedral" sends a chill down my spine

I heartily recommend both Thief games (and Thief 3 when it comes out - it seems to be in good hands), but If you go for Thief, try to get the "Gold" version, as it has 3 extra (and very good) missions slotted into various points to the game. With LGS gone though it might be hard to locate...

Oh and Deus Ex is good too, but more of an action game with RPG and adventure elements in it. Worth playing just for the complex plot, atmosphere and a halfway decent attempt at creating a free-form game.

Ah, yes, the curse of the game developer
. As for Faust, I found it quite fascinating. Really loved the atmosphere. I played it in French, with a friend of mine.

Hi and Welcome Back!
For quite some time I have been struggling through Discworld Noir. I have just finished Syberia and am now playing Dracula - Last Sanctuary.

Good to have you back again

Deleted UserHello Omnia and thank you for you excellent opinion.  I agree that the graphics look stunning.  That was what attracted me in the first place.  I am usually a story person and while this one has a good story the graphics (that I have seen online) are riviting.  I will definately give it a try.

I am not an action game person.  I can't seem to move fast enough to do it right, but with God Mode and a walkthrough I can probably limp along.  The game looks well worth the effort.

Thanks a bunch

Cerberus,
Yup, Syberia is released over here, I've been drooling over a copy at PC World for the last few weeks. Must buy... no, must wait and savour... ah, it's killing me, it really is. Either way, it should be available if you find a store that's big enough to stock adventure games.
