I like FMV's!

Phantasmagoria was my first computer game,  I was amazed by this new technology.  Harvester was a good one too.

Flash Traffic: city of angels? I can't find any reviews about it.

For me, a true FMV is one which uses live actors extensively throughout the entire game. If the backdrops are computer rendered, it's acceptable to me as long as they are well done.

I want either the "real thing", with actors, or cartoon-style games where there is no doubt about what they are. 3D-models just doesn't have the right feeling to them. Trying to be (at least in most games) something they can never be: Human beings.

And, when I think about it, I WANT real people to act in games. I wouldn't want a 3D-model in American Beauty instead of Kevin Spacey. I understand the budgetary constraints with using actors, but from an artistic view there are no substitute for me.

Just as there are no substitute for Chris Jones as Tex in those games. Make him 3D and the magic is lost, imho.

Deleted UserI'm with Looney. I think of Dark Side of the Moon as an FMV game, although strictly speaking it is not. On the other hand, blue screen actors pasted as walking talking puppets in pre-rendered environments (Sherlock Holmes: the Case of the Rose Tattoo, Phantasmagoria, etcetera) are not FMV in my book.

Examples of truly FMV adventures are Blue Heat (hard to find) and Temujin
, which uses the same Video Reality Engine as Dark Side of the Moon.

Me too.  I even like the ones that some people say are reaally bad.  It seems that I always find something good in them too.

Deleted UserI can tolerate them, but I prefer full 3D i.e., GK 3.  What splendor!

What kind of programs do they use to get real actors in the games?

That's achieving common ground!
GK3 is great.

I think even a bad actor is better than a 3d puppet.  It's true that 3d is getting better all the time but I really don't think it will ever be the same as a real actor.
