Want a Third Capri Game?

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1380071117/the-capri-connection?ref=live

Differently from the other two games, The Capri Connection set will be extended from Capri to other gorgeous places nearby, such as the Amalfi Coast, Naples and other islands. The new game, as well as the other two of the trilogy, will be available in two operating modes: Adventure Game Mode and Walking Mode. In Adventure Game Mode the player has to solve a mystery by visiting sites and solving puzzles along the way in order to reach the final solution. In Walking Mode the player just visits the set as a tourist along with a virtual tour guide showing the beauties and the features of each location.

AFAIK there was more or less universal approval of the first game by Silvio& Gey Savarese namely "A quiet weekend on Capri".

Not so for their second and much more complex game "Anacapri - The Dream".

Just Adventure gave it a terribly critical review by a veteran reviewer who gave it a rating of C-/D+ and even suggested that this was too good for the game.

On the other hand a veteran member of both JA and another popular forum gave it a good review and a rating of A-  - she is IMHO both extremely computer knowledgeable and very level headed with her posts always objective rather than subjective.

To make matters worse a different veteran member of JA strongly defended the extremely negative JA review mentioned above.  My memory is not too good due to age and the fact that this took place a few years ago.  However I think I remember that I defended the game since I thought that it was overall extremely good and certainly worth the A- rating.  If I am not mistaken I got chewed off quite severely by the above mentioned member for my honest opinion.

Sure there were faults in the game - but how many games are there that contain NO faults?  But it had so many brilliant aspects to it that overcame its shortcomings IMO .

After this Silvio and Gey got in touch with me and I believe I helped them with some alpha testing of a future game of theirs.  This time it was based in Naples which I believe is their home town.  AFAIK this game was never completed but maybe aspects of it or maybe even all of it have been incorporated into their third game ???

I have deliberately not mentioned any names since I do not want to get involved in any personal flaming. - But I imagine that both the aforementioned members still post on JA although not all that frequently I think ?

25$ is rather high as a basic kickstarter tier. Most projects start at 15, especially for early backers, the rest go for 20$. I doubt the finished game will go for higher than 30$, so this isn't much better than any pre-order, and a kickstarter pledge is NOT a pre-order.

As I wrote on a different thread, "I am NOT a Kickstarter junkie" - very far from it!!

I may be completely wrong but AFAIK, despite its virtues, there are MANY more popular games on the Kickstarter list and hence I wonder whether this one will reach its target ???

For those following, Gey Savarese the co developer, along with his son Silvio, has posted this over at Adventure Point in response to some concerns about their Kickstarter campaign and with the DRM.

I thought Anacapri was brilliant, much improved on the first game "Quiet Weekend at Capri". Anacapri was what I wanted "Quiet Weekend" to be, a much more focused effort with less wandering, less confusing maze of areas where you have no idea what you are supposed to be doing, and better puzzles combined with a fantastic storyline (one of the best ever in adventure games).

If the 3rd game is anything like Anacapri then it will be fantastic.

I enjoyed A Quiet Weekend in Capri alot. It was a really unique game. Anacapri had its moments, but most sequels do not live up to their predecessors. I wouldn't mind seeing a third one......just not sure how much interest there is out there for it.

...just picked up a used AnaCapri on Amazon as I like the original [though still un-finished] and was only dimly aware there had been a sequel.. Thanks to this thread a horrible wrong has been righted...

On the box there is a quote from a JA+ reviewer.. ah the old days...

On the S-G software home page it states: "The only adventure games set in a real pace with real characters."

Guess they've never heard of Norrköping.

I'm guessing what they mean is that the bus driver in Capri is actually a real bus driver, and so on.  In Norrköping the girl playing Stina doesn't really work in a bar and tattoo-guy isn't really a janitor.
