At the risk of being pummeled for saying this, when I want an adventure-lite to pleasantly while away the hours, I usually play a Nancy Drew adventure.

To answer your question, check Helen's post above.

Status : Offline | aem2169 : You might want to try "Dark Alleys- penumbra Motel",
"City of Fools"
"Where Angels Cry"
"Aaron Crane -- paintings come alive"
"Green Moon"
All of these are at BigFishGames and as far as I remember; no hidden objects.
I was really sucked into casual games for a while; but lately have wanted something harder with less hand-holding.

I really enjoy Casual Adventure Games but am not a big fan of Hidden Object Games. If anyone has any suggestions I would be greatly appreciative.
Hi, I recently purchased "Dreamscapes : The Sandman" from BFG. Pretty fun and no hidden objects .

because it might make the casual gamer think that this is all there is to the genre

You do have a point .
But in my gaming experience, casual HOGs vs. true Adventure Games (like "Still Life"), are like comparing a convenience store sandwich to a full course dinner at a fine dining restaurant.
I like to have a HOG on my laptop when traveling, esp. if we have to stay at a relative's home and they all hit the sack at about 9pm.--- I tend to be up a bit later and thus need a book or game.
I've drifted away somewhat from plain HOGs and like the above poster, like some casual games that are less junkpile-type and more inventory-related.
Just finished a game I purchased from 'GoodOldGames.com', called "Sanitarium"... very well done in my opinion ; even though it's an 'oldie'.
Also bought "A New Beginning" and am planning to start it soon !
Speaking of GOG.com. ... hope the trouble in Cyprus hasn't affected their business..... I keep watching their site to see if any oldies I still miss become available !   'Legend of the Prophet and the Assasin' , 'Amber', 'Sacred Amulet' )
Don't get me started on game companies that I miss....... like 'The Adventure Company' , 'Microids' , etc.....
