Topic: Dreamfall Chapters The Longest Journey Kickstarter.
For those wondering, why would Funcom need to use kickstarter, this is actually being done on the side by Ragnar Tørnquist. He has opened a side studio called Red Thread Games and Funcom is allowing him to continue TLJ (He also still works for Funcom).
It has already gotten a ton offunds, of it's 850,000 goal it's already reached over 775,000 of the goal with 23 days left.
Well, I just registered for Dreamfall at Kickstarter for the $25 level. I have mixed feelings about the new game after viewing the video. In the Kickstarter video the new Zoe character does not look much like the old character. I wish she looked more like the Dreamfall Zoe. I also noticed that the game is not to be released until Nov 2014. That's two years from now, so I guess there's no reason to get too excited. Like I said, I have mixed feeling about what type of game they are making. Eight hundred and fifty thousand does not seem like much money to make a game over a two year period. I guess my greatest fear is that they will make a game aimed at marketing sales that is only distantly related to the Longest Journey series. I hope I am wrong.
It's good to (finally) see Dreamfall Chapters being developed. I wanted to pledge money to support it, but I can't accept Kickstater's tems and conditions.
I like what I've heard about the game so far, but I'll admit to being slightly worried that this will be another Dreamfall quality-wise.

Well, they made their goal, so that means we will get a Dreamfall game of some kind.
The game being made is a 'sure thing' now, so all of you 'Longest Journey' and 'Dreamfall' lovers need to pledge so Red String so they will have enough money to make an AAA game for us. Right now they have one million which is enough to make a 'low budget movie' type game. They will need at least three million to make a good AAA game.
They have pledges that start as low as $5. They are using Amazon.com to charge you the amount of your pledge. You just pledge and you are taken to Amazon where you pay.
I just hope I'm still alive in two years so I can see how the series ends.
Both The Longest Journey & Dreamfall are also available right here at Just Adventure, plus we offer free trials so you can make sure the games play nice with your pc.
