I'm just throwing this out there for some suggestions.

I own a small business and the time has come to consider having a web page +/- facebook presence. There are a number of companies we deal with that offer up template web pages, but I'm not sure if this is the way to go, since I really don't have the first idea about what I want on the page. As for a facebook page, I'm not really sure that is necessary. Personally I don't use FB, but I wonder if it would be of value for potential clients.

a website is the modern day equivalent for a bussiness card.

I own a small bussiness myself, strictly B2B and almost 90% of my customers have discovered us through our website.

It's essential that a website looks nice and contains the most essential information of your bussiness.

Don't add too much content, as people usually don't read large texts on the internet.

Keywords are essential to be picked up by search engines.

It's a good idea to invest in a good website made by professionals. Customers quickly turn away when something looks amateuristic.

As for facebook and other social media, I don't think it's a good medium for small bussinesses yet.

For now only big companies or brands seem to get most "likes", so i doubt your company will have much benefit owning a FB page.

This is espicially the cases if you work B2B. Social media is more suited for private customers
