Are you on a mac?
What is your OS?

It seems you maybe right, I have a Mac , but the website clearly said that it was was for a Mac as well as windows.I've taken a screenshot of the page and sent it to the helpdesk, and I am now awaiting a reply from the company, I don't suppose they are back until Monday. Being in the UK the time difference causes some delay in the response from them. I will wait and see what happens.
Regards
Richard

Status : Offline | Perhaps this will help: You can try doing this:
--if your Mac is an Intel (that is, has an Intel CPU/processor - to tell if so, go to "apple" at top Left of screen, check "about this mac") and you have a spare Windows XP install disc/CD you can run Boot Camp Assistant to partition your hard drive, than then install XP on the new partition;
--In the event you have an older mac (that is, running OS 9 or OS X Tiger, you might have a PPC CPU (that is, a Power PC CPU). I don't know if BCA (Boot Camp Assistant) will run on a power PC, but if this is the case and if you happen to have a computer that's ~10 years old or less that runs XP and has a 3D card (either a Nvidia or a ATI Radeon) you might be able to play the game on that XP ciomputer.
--if all else fails you might try d/l Virtual Box for Mac, install XP on a Virtual Box virtual machine and install/play the game from this virtual machine.

Hi, Richsrd. Did you get your money back?
Anyway I just found this Mac version of AGON Mysterious Codex on Amazon.com.
AGON Mysterious Codex for OS X
Is this the game you were having trouble with?
If not, perhaps you can buy this one (but you'll have to create an acc't on Amazon and link it with your bank account), and hopefully your problem with the first version of this game will be solved?
EDIT - Richard, if you order this game from Anazon, it says it ships to select countries outside the USA (since I found this at the USA Amazon) and the UK Amazon doesn't have the OS X version of this game available. To see if you can get this game from the Amazon here in the States, you can visit its Global Shipping Program, and hopefully this will help you get the version of this game your computer needs in order to be able to play the game.

I played The Mysterious Codex (Agon 1-3) on my older iMac running 10.3.9 & Classic, but like so many of the older games, it won't work in Intel 10.4 or later. Also, I was disappointed that Agon 4: The Lost Sword of Toledo was never ported to Macs, but the fact that they're remaking the first part for the Intel machines says that there's hope for the rest of the series. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about it. Professor Hunt is a favorite character of mine, and I've enjoyed the first 3 episodes tremendously.

Yes. Richard, I'm going to tell you something (this is the honest-to-goodness truth): When I first got my Macintosh (Macbook Pro) in 2009, I wanted to put windows on it so I could play PC games, but I decided against it in the end, deleted Windows, so now I have all OS X on it now. But what I did was I bought 2 other laptops from ebay in Winter 2011 (one laptop has Win 7) but since its video card had the Optimus technology which was causing issues with some of my PC games, I bought a second laptop after making sure that it did not have the Optimus technology attached to its video card, and I put XP on it. It is a Core 2 Duo, runs Mysterious Codex (the PC version of the game, of course) and I am very happy with both of these laptops. In fact, I'm hoping to upgrade their hard drives come December.
And that is how I solved this New Computer + PC game problem after getting my Macintosh.
Perhaps you can do the same as I?

Status : Offline | Hi Yes this seems the way to go, I had a desktop PC before I got the Mac, I gave it away to a friend, bit silly in hindsight. I use to play a lot of adventure games on it but the whole computer needed upgrading and I had upgraded as far as I could, to go any further would have cost too, much so I decided to change to the Mac, and I haven't regreted it. It's only recently I've started adventure gaming again and found so many better sites in the US than in the UK, but it's limited for the Mac. One game I recently played which was rather strange was Dear Esther which was made in the UK . I am now looking at different options at a company called Novatech that build different spec PC s and it is quite close to where I live, it also helps that my wife wants a PC for her work !!!

NovaTech builds custom laptops (gaming kind) for about £500 or so, Richard. You could get a PC for your wife (for her work) and a gaming PC for yourself, either a desktop or a laptop. Have you looked at any models yet?
What options are you looking at (at Novatech), Richard?
After you get the PC, then you can enjoy all these windows PC games again.

I sure will, Richard. If you're a bit unconfortable with Windows 8, you can get a large hard drive and partition it for windows 7 (which you might be able to run Mysterious Codex as well as other games in) while the other partition you can use for Windows 8 and try out different games in after you've played them in other OS's.

Me, I'd take PC's and a Mac any day. It just seems if a lot more games are for the PC, and as a whole, PC owners just have more adventures to choose from, whether it be DOS games, Win 3.11 games, Win 95/98 games, Win XP games, and Win 7 games. I really like my adventure assortment, to me its like sort of like a Star Trek Away Team mission when you visit different planets (worlds) to unravel a mystery, solve problems, and find answers. I wonder if there's anyone here at JA that feel the same way about adventure games as I do?
But then again, Mac owners can always install DOSbox for Mac, Virtual PC for Mac, run Boot Camp to install XP/7, perhaps even set a Mac up for triple boot or maybe even quad boot (OS X, XP, 7 and even eight) if their hard drive is large enough to accomodate all these OS's, and there you go. Unless....what may be the reason some folks may not want Windows on their Mac?
