I've been asked by Support to discover whether any folks who log on, have cookies enabled and check "remember me" are nevertheless not staying logged on, and are obliged to re-logon every time they visit.

This has been happening to some members, myself included, for quite some time. It would help to know how widespread the problem so perhaps something can be done to fix it.

Thanks, everyone.

I only log on when I intend to post something but I'll check it out on my end. Also, replying to a post is difficult lately meaning that I have to control C the post then exit and click the JA forum link on my favorites list and proceed to the relevent topic and re-try. Something is not right.

I stay logged on even if i close JA in my browser, and even if i don't visit for a few days, and even if i clean out my cache and even after i've cleaned out with virus antispyware scans.

In fact, i can't remember when last i've had to actually log in as Traveller.  I just stay logged in no matter what i do..-touch wood.

This seems to be somewhat strange !

A short while ago I posted a topic called "JA multiple logins. BAD. Needs correction". - It appears a little bit below this post. ")

Four members replied, some more than once, with suggestions which unfortunately did not seem feasible.

Since nobody complained about the same problem I assumed that it must reside in my computer alone.  This did not surprise me too much since my computer is fairly old and is often cranky.

Then one (only) member complained of the identical problem which led me to wonder if it *REALLY* was only due to my computer and not something inherent in the JA Site.

Now it seems that a new thread has been started and it seems that others are suffering similar inconveniences.

Perhaps someone could clarify the situation.

Thanks so much everyone I will pass this to the appropriate team. We are still unclear wether this is website or computer related, but we are going to do our best to figure it out as soon as we can. Thanks again guys.

Thanks SUPPORT

My situation is not too bad. I get logged-off every few days (after having accessed JA every day).  I haven't noted HOW MASNY days but is seems like every 3 or 4.
It happened today and for the very 1st time I've made a note to see exactly how many days !)
HOTMAIL is **MUCH** worse !
Despite checking the "Remember me" box every time, you are 'unlogged' after every access !
Even if you have finished  and exited and want to enter something 2 seconds later, you are forced to reenter your password !!!!!!
Foooooey !

Len, Things are already in motion back here to see what we can do to help you.

JustAdventure really does care about all of you very much. In truth you are our bosses, because without you there would be no community and no JustAdventure. All of you guys from Len to Karla ARE JustAdventure. So we desire to make this a place that you want to be, that's easy to get to and enjoyable for everyone.

From Len to Karla?  The nadir to the zenith?  The alpha to the omega?  I'm laughing so hard.... you wait till Karla reads this!  Boy is she gonna demand what end of the scale you've got her placed on.  And you can't even say it was alphabetical either.....

.... never mind Elliot, I hear you're good at running fast.....

Don't you think it's about time you CEASED acting the rabble-rouser as far as I'm concerned ?
You've persisted without respite for years now without one personal attack by me on a single post of yours.

If, for exam-le, Karla feels hard done by, or insulted by Elliot, or made a fool of, or whatever, I'm absolutely certain that she is completely capable of making her own complaints without being prompted or egged on by you !!!

I'm curious... was Len banned for the post above?

If so, that's not quite in keeping with the spirit of how things used to be done around here for many years.  This is exactly the kind of thing that Halcyon meant when he said the forum is starting to become like a nursery school.  This is the kind of thing that happens on  a certain other AG forum which a lot of us stopped posting on because of the moderators acting like policemen and treating the members like little children.

If it was for anything else he had done, it must have been some PM he sent?.. because I've searched the forum for anything "bad" he might have said in the last few days, and all i can find are the two posts above.

@Traveller Trav, I am not a policeman, I am not here to censor or threaten. That is not the way we are going to conduct things. However, Len has been warned numerous times that he was walking the line and walking a bit too closely. He was PM'd several times and then there was the whole thing with the thread of the vacation pictures. Which I admittedly handled poorly by censoring his posts, but I am a bit green here and I need you guys help. This is your forum, I may have a few buttons, but you guys need to help me learn when and how to press said buttons. Thanks for your feedback on this, I agree with what your saying in part, but Len knew full well he was on thin ice and openlly attacked Caroline. Was it super bad... no. Did he call her a nasty name or threaten her... no. What he DID do however was openly incite her by commenting on her innocent behavior as I can see it. Remember I am new here and also human and so I will be prone to make mistakes. I ask your forgiveness in advance. So PM me and let's talk things out. As I said above From the Anthony's to the Len's (Yes I said Len) THIS IS YOUR FORUM!!! As such you guys need to assist me to know what it is you want here. I am not a dictator and never will be. There are plenty of those in the world and history already who did much better than I could hope to do.

What I am is an appointed official. I am here to keep the peace. Not police, there's a difference. It is my belief that Len misunderstood Carolines humor (sarcasm) and it was intended for me and I took it with a grin and a chuckle, until I kept reading. Then sadly I had to act. This is not a playground nor a daycare and I will not tolerate people who cannot behave like adults here. I am not refering directly to Len in any way, but rather in general for all to hear. But again at the end of the day this place is yours and I will respect that so if you want to direct me or suggest to me please do so either publicly, or privately. I am here for you. Your are JustAdventure Traveller, just as much as Len is JustAdventure. I... well I am Elliot I am here to assist and help as I can and as my judgement and common sense direct me to. Ok well that's plenty of rambling from me today (on my day off). So I am going to sign off and go find the missing part I need in Deponia. That challenge and task will probably take me the rest of the day, but it will be worth it to have some Adventure... Hope y'all have a great weekend.

Hi Eliot.  I'm sorry if my attitude seems critical, i suppose you are trying your best here, and it is a difficult situation.    I was just wondering if it was those 2 posts only which led to the punitive action.  See, i missed the posts in the other thread that you mention, since, it seems they were deleted, so I think those that missed that, er.. incident might not be sure what is going on.  Though, yes, there has been friction on JA in the past (before the take-over took place)  that would eventually escalate to unacceptable levels, so i do understand that one would want to avoid such unpleasantness, where possible.  It's not an easy task to moderate, i realize that of course.

Maybe it is best to leave posts on  that 'break the rules', (in other words, not to delete them unless they have clearly undesirable material like links to porn or pirating sites or whatever, or unless they're SPAM of course, in which case of course you're going to delete them) so that it is clear what caused the problems... just a suggestion.

I did hear from other members that the censored posts were quite unpleasant, and we do know how people can over-react, so yeah, ok, thanks for explaining the situation.  Was just wondering. (Was wondering if there had been posts that had been deleted again, or something like that).  But yeah, i do know what you mean with, erm, if certain behaviour occurs again and again, it's not the same as a newcomer doing something unpleasant for the first time.

Anyway, i hope you enjoy Deponia, i heard it's quite a nice game... I'm just waiting for Sherlock Holmes to pull me back to Adventures.  What has happened to the latest Sherlock game, i wonder? I must check... i do hope it's not been cancelled...

Btw, if you do want me to chat via PM, feel free to PM me.  (But it sounds like you're rather enjoying yourself at the moment, so i won't bother you with one.

  )

@Traveller

I wish I can't stop because there are so many things that need to be taken care of, I cannot get my mind off this subject and I feel comelled to check and make sure everything is copecetic in our community and that there are no hurt feelers or abusive posts that need to be dealt with, or questions that need to be answered. I may care a bit much about the JA community beyond what my paycheck is. Yeah Guilty as charged there. You may always send me a PM

has that not been abundantly clear to all of you guys. Boy this topic is way OFF topic now. So I am not sure what the proper procedure would be, just leave it because it's important (that's how I personally feel) or move it over somewhere else. In regards to leaving posts yes I see that now, but doing that wold require a ban, or perhaps an edit to the post stating why it violated the rules or common sense of the communitys values. Thanks for asking and thanks for the deponia comment I will ge to it today hopefully.
First Sushi and some relaxation. It's been a really really really long week behind the curtains here at JA. But it has been good and productive, just busy. Well I am off to new posts and PM's
Have a great weekend again.

I had to look up copacetic as it was a totally new word to me.  Seems it's an American/Canadian slang word so I needn't feel too ignorant then.

And yes, I was poking fun at you, and no one else.

PS  I suggest you delete/move as little as possible, especially when threads meander off their original topic.  Good conversations are organic and not proscribed by anything other than good manners.

Yep, JA tends to have a relaxed community and we enjoy chatting about a wide variety of subjects.  To start a new topic for each subject would kill the natural flow of conversation.

This is not a criticism of you, Elliot, but rather praise for our previous moderators:  I really think they had mastered the art of moderating.   You hardly even knew they were there, most of the time.  By that I don't mean that we don't enjoy chatting with you, with them the situation was rather different, because they kept their identities anonymous, and i think it's nice that we're getting to know you as a person.

What i do mean is that it's more conducive to a pleasant atmosphere if the mods do a minimum of... 'organizing' and if they only step in 'as moderators' when it's really necessary, such as when SPAM appears or a flame war has erupted.

I'm not saying we don't enjoy chatting with you though- it's nice that we're getting to know you as a person like we got to know Karla, our previous webmaster, as well as Val and  Aya etc. from our previous staff.
