Do you like the Carol Reed games? Then you will love The Artifact...and its FREE!

This free indie game was brought to my attention at another Forum and after playing it I must say I hope the developer would keep up the good work with another game.

Like the Carol Reed games this one is done with actual photos of the Swedish countryside in a point & click, first person perspective.  I particularly like the developers use of movement in some of the still shots like, curtains gently moving with the wind and water that actually moves. There also were a couple spots used with a 360 degree panning to help orient you. Give it a try and let us know what you think. You can download the game  HERE  .

Its strange because I used the same link on the other site but the other one directs you first to the ad screen. I wonder if its the Forum software that does it.

I do understand Len. Here is what you have to do...

In the first screen, click on the "Regular Download"

On the second screen, in the center there is a count down timer from 60 seconds. Once the 60 seconds is complete a code box will appear.

You have to type in the two words you see and click enter. The words are jumbled up so you may need someone to help you if you can't see them properly.

Once you enter them correctly your download should start.

Hi Len -

After choosing the ordinary download, you will be on a busy page, with a little round clock ticking down the seconds until your download starts. Wait until it really reaches zero, and you will need to type in the twisted words (anti-spam device) then you can go to the actual download page. Ignore all the other stuff.

I downloaded the game as outlined above.
Then installed and started playing - all with absolutely no probs!
So far so good !!

**YES** the game is similar in construction to the Carol Reed Mystery series developed by Mikael Nyqvist – also from Sweden of course.
I do not wish to make comparisons since "The Artifact" is a FREE game whereas the Carol's are 'commercial' (albeit pretty cheap !!).
~~~~~~ In addition I have been intimately linked to the Carol series for nearly a decade, having been a  pre-alpha, alpha, & beta tester and credited with being the game's "Creative Consultant" !!

I think this is your first game and an extremely good one at that.  I am sure that you will continue and produce more and even better games in the future.
~~~~~~ I have a few comments to make including some criticisms.  Please do not be offended or upset since this is par for the course. 
I have been a Quest/Adventure tester for dozens of games which makes me hardly able to play a game without spotting items which can be altered, improved, or sometimes corrected !
~~~~~~ All of my criticisms are trivial with the exception of one! They are intended to be **CONSTRUCTIVE** criticisms *ONLY* and not destructive !!!
~~~~~~ I have only skimmed the surface of the game by playing for a little under 30 , minutes – so what I have to say following is not necessarily a true overall picture.
In addition, the present download is *only* the beta version and not the final polished one !!!
~~~~~~  I have so far spotted just 2 or 3 small errors in the written English – these can easily be corrected.
~~~~~~  Since the game is free, there is no speech as far as I can tell although there are some sound effects.
~~~~~~  The music seems a bit flat and monotonous but that may change for the better later on in the game.
~~~~~~  The only really bad bug I came across is as follows:-

~~~~~~  I saved in one place only so far.  But when I tried to load the save, the game crashed out with an error message. 
This needs to be investigated and if a general fault and not just my particular computer, ***MUST*** be corrected ASAP.

Oh, wow this new free game was supposed to be a birthday present for me (although it's a month after my birthday now) - from the Good Shepherd - for having best friend throw out some of my PC games that she considered were "too creepy" for her, so I trusted her & I let her throw 'em out. Now it looks like my Good Shepherd is starting to replace these thrown-out games with games like this one and the Five Cores.

EDIT - The Artifact is already d/l completely on my mac. It's a 275 MB .exe file. Will fit on a flash drive (oops, mustan't forget to make a "tech - list" of computer stuff  - really, I love doing this instead of having to visit doctors! Would trade doctor visits for this "tech" buying any day, any time! Seriously! - to buy at the local Best Buy store either on the way to or after leaving the Finger Doctor's office (he had to put a pin in my finger cuz I broke it, splint kept coming off. Good thing pin's scheduled to come out on or about the 28th of this (Sept) month.) for transfer to one of my windows laptops. so is there a walkthrough for this game?
