Since someone here has already started a thread where members post listings of their retro game buys here in Discussions, I thought I might start an on-going thread for members to list their new games that they bought - the latest releases as well as the games that fall between the retro and the latest released games, but I don't know if such a thread has been started here before at JA or not?

If not, shall we start listing our such game buys, please? You guys may go before me.

Say, why don't we members post photos of our new/recent game buys, if this is ok with the mods/admins?

I just picked up 1953 KGB Unleashed, the second game by the Outcry team. A Russian version [called Phobos 1953] has been out for a little while but I looked in vain for any announcement that an english version would be made available - but it happened! Awesome news and I purchased a boxed copy from a UK seller on eBay. I fiddled with the russian release and it looks very good. I consider Outcry one of the best AGs in recent years and really look forward to what they have put together here..

Other recent purchases:

IL-2 Cliffs of Dover [love-hate, but got back in with it on the massively patched version]

FEAR [looking to get the others in the series too]

Diamonds in the Rough  [creator selling on eBay, signed, cool!]

Race '07

Because of all the Kickstarters I backed these past few months, I've decided I am not buying any new games for the rest of this year. Also, Jack Houston is probably the last Kickstarter I am backing this year, unless something really really interesting shows up - but I can't think of anything I really really want that hasn't been announced yet. This doesn't mean I won't have anything new to play for the rest of the year, as some stuff I pre-ordered ages ago (even before the whole Double Fine Adventure thing was announced) is finally arriving e.g. Deponia arrived last week and 1953 KGB should be arriving soon.

I can't wait to see which one of us gets the game first. Go on and place your bets.

As a final thing for the steam sale, I bought Iron Warriors: T-72 Tank Command, a tank simulator, for 1½€. I don't have any experience with this type of simulators, and the price was right.

I got (recently) Edgar Allen Poe Black Cat, Auryn Quest (which has running/jumping sequences in it to acquire the blue power-ups/artifacts/orbs/whatever the w/t says you have to collect) and like you lack experience with tank sims, Fnord, I lack experience with the run/jump routines of Auryn Quest. But I can always save Auryn Quest for after I get a driver's licence so I can use Mom's car to go to the local Barnes & Noble or Panera Bread with Dell laptop to game on the go.

EDIT - btw, doesn't the background of the new JA site look kind of cool? Just like an PC explorer (via gameplay) paradise, complete with traveler's map on the background?

I had never heard of Auryn Quest before, so I had too look it up. So that is what happened to the "The Neverending story" game, I thought it was canceled. It seem to have got very mixed reviews, ranging between upper 70's (out of 100) down to 10. Never seen a game getting quite as mixed reviews before.

That is the game I could not play. There is not much that I am scared of, but being in a world devoid of people, that'd do it. Even the trailer kinda gave me the creeps. The developer Dan Peach has a really good sense of horror and creativity, and he's working on a new game right now so stay tuned if you liked corrosion.

That's good news.

I wouldn't exactly call Corrosion scary - it was more 'disturbing' if anything. And as to a game devoid of people, well I'm in the 'Myst-like' camp so that's actually a plus for me...

This reminds me of ~10 years ago when I was at the local mall at about closing time. It was very quiet, no people, I started getting scared, so I hurried to where the people were all standing at the bus stop, waiting for all there various busses to take 'em home. Once I got to the bus stop where the people were, my fear evaporated.

However, in my experience, when I play so called "scarey" games b/t of no people, the gameplay wouldn't scare me unless the game was actually my immediate surroundings rather than on a computer screen. Its b/c the game is on a computer screen and I'm fully aware that I'm seated in a room of our house, the coffee shop, etc while using computer to play game is why Corrosion likely would not scare me. But if Corrosion were like my surrounds at the deserted mall and I wasn't using a computer, then I'd be scared - time for virtual reality helmet, anyone? (just kidding!)
