I started playing Resonance tonight, and so far I'm liking it. The story is interesting; the control scheme, while a little clunky at times, offers both a logical means of solving puzzles and also requires a little more brain work; the voice acting is actually quite pleasant; and the art is quite effective with its comic-book style.
I can't say I'm too pleased about its low resolution (this isn't a huge deal with the characters or backgrounds, but blows for text), and short-term memory could have been a little less restricted, but otherwise I really have nothing bad to say. I'm looking forward to unravelling its mysteries.
It's interesting in particular how the game implements the modern feature of achievements: it's something I would have thought incompatible with the adventure game, but in fact it's very compatible when the game is designed correctly. Very neat.
Nice to hear you are enjoying the game. I am as well. At present I'm having a bit of a struggle with the ornate safe puzzle at the Tortoise Security Office. Easy enought to start out initially but the following subsequent three levels definitely require a lot more planning and thinking ahead, for now I'm resting on it... .

I thought it had a lot of good ideas but the characters and acting were a bit flat. The plot didn't grab my interest either, though I could see how others would enjoy it more if they happened to be into thrillers (I'm not). Would have been a nice short indie game a few hours long but not a full length game, especially with the low-res graphics.
I'm so out of the scene, that i don't even have a clue what this game is about. Setting? Control scheme? Story? Care to share a bit more?
Screenshot or 2 might be nice as well.

That's bizarre. It's just a plain old PNG file. Nothing malicious about it at all; it's been the same for nigh on a decade by now...

I like most of the stuff Wadget Eye has either devoloped or published, so I will definitely get Resonance at some point.
I tried Emerald City Confidental back when it was new, but it didn't really grab me. Apparently some of the voice cast for Resonance were in one of more of the Blackwell games, though (which I recently bought on sale at GOG), so I'll doubtless be trying those.

It's set in a fictional big city called Aventine City in the near future (or a present which is slightly more technologically advanced). A scientist discovers a revolutionary new technology, and some shadowy people are after him. Four people, all of whom are connected in some way, must figure out who's behind the conspiracy, lest the technology falls into the wrong hands.
It's a fairly standard third-person, inventory-based, point-and-click adventure game; in a similar vein to Diamonds in the Rough notions and ideas can be manipulated as objects, in this case mostly in order to drive conversation. Thus, rather than simply clicking on every conversation option to exhaust a source of information, you often have to discover for yourself what you should be asking someone about.
I'd not describe it as a thriller per se, but it's definitely a mystery/detective sort of game. Very polished, too. CB's video gives a good impression of what you can expect graphics-wise. Music's good, too, if a bit understated. Unlike Walsh I'm finding both the plot and acting very engaging, so I guess your milage will vary.
I'd definitely say it's worth a look, though.
It's still going for a very reasonable 10$ on GOG. It was slightly cheaper on pre-order, even, if you can believe that.

I spent most of this evening on that puzzle. Initially I approached it blind, but I predictably didn't get too far. The first side is indeed easier than the others, and since I kind of blundered into the solution I spent a lot of time trying the wrong thing for the other sides. Eventually got it, though. Interestingly it seems to be an optional puzzle.
I'm currently replaying Resonance, that's how much I liked it.
And of course I want to get more points and be rewarded with more achievements. I agree about the annoyingly blocky graphics from the early '90s, and the text is in capitals too, which makes it even harder to read. But otherwise a great game. I thought the voice acting remarkably good, even more so for an indie game, and the story has a shocker that you don't see coming. I love that I can switch between characters at will. Very good puzzles. My favorite is the clever one in the tunnels with the magnetic stuff, where you have to use all four characters for the solution. I've seen two endings, read something about there being a third one, looking forward to finding it!
Oh yes, the Wadjet game! My memory is slipping, i must be getting old now...
That was a very good summary of the game, thanks, JKing, and thanks for the trailer, CB, count me as "up to date' now.
Will look into it, sounds good!
