I am not taking sides in this possible controversy since I never have played First Person Shooters.

I was under the impression that the "face eater" was a homeless person who was under the influence of some new drug, and thus I find it quite unlikely that it has any form of connection to video games.

And Call of Duty does not simulate reality. I've played it, and it looks real enough, but it simulates reality about as well as an over the top 80's action movie, so any claims that it can be used as a training tool is pretty preposterous. 

There are always going to be people who try to make a medium that they don't understand look bad. Remember during the 80's & early 90's, when pen & paper RPGs turned children into satanists? And if my memory serves, comic books came under fire during the 60's for teaching children violence. A lot of these complains came from so called "experts", who really did not understand the medium that they were criticizing, and who had no real interest in understanding the medium either, they had already decided that the medium was bad, and should be banned.

It seem to be a copy/paste mistake. The article that I found online mentioned Call of Duty in that sentence, and then shortly therafter mentioned WoW.
