This kickstarter thing is blowing up and I couldn't be happier.

A new Tim Shafer game at 15$, wasteland 2 at 15$, now a new (well redone) leisure suit larry at 15.

So for UNDEr the price of a single new game, I have helped bring 2 (hopefully 3 counting this one) game franchices back from the dead that publishers didn't think mattered.

Hopeuflly this kind of thing helps bring adventure games back out into the spotlight more.

Yeah, the face of gaming is changing fast. We must be thankful to Mr. Shafer and to his awesome kickstarter campain that started the whole thing.

Cant wait for the new Larry. Never had the chance to play the originals (wasnt born yet

Gosh.  Back in the days of five inch floppy disks a work colleague gave me a copy of the first Larry to play on my new 286....  I was initially shocked then highly amused that we had to type in swear words to provoke responses.   I never progrerssed past the taxi ride - my child put paper clips into the disc drive and killed the pc.  So it will be interesting to see what comes of this.  The graphics back then meant the sex scenes were innocent.  Nowadays it would be pornographic, surely?

Leisure Suit Larry 7's Easter Egg scenes (you had to do crazy hidden stuff to activate them) could be pretty raunchy for their time. Jump this video to the 7:00 minutes mark to see the best/worst of it (Not Safe For Work!). I imagine this remake will be about the same, and again without being able to see the extra naughty stuff during normal gameplay.

Update #10: some awesome new goodies! 

They've successfully reached the 500000 level some days ago. And a new update:

"So, here's the easier one: at the $550,000 level, we will be maxing out the game responses along the lines I suggested in my video update. Tons more jokes, tons more responses for clicking on screen features, dialogue trees, inventory-on-inventory messages, and more story! We’ll load every existing nook and cranny with extra content because, as Al pointed out to us, the original was “kinda thin” on that.

Now, here's the big one: at the $650,000 level, we're doing something that will change the face of Larry forever (if only!): we're adding a new location, new puzzles, and a new girl with her own storyline! Is this the infamous female character that Al was forced to cut from the original 1987 version of Leisure Suit Larry 1? Or am I just making that up entirely to add a sense of mystery? Your guess is as good as mine!"

An extra 120.000$ with four days left? Popular kickstarter projects always get a bit of a surge in funding as the end draws near, but I can't see it happening. So we probably won't get the new girl. I guess time will tell.

Good news is that it ended up (including paypal donations) to be around 673k, so we'll be getting the new stuff in ti as well.
