Humble Botanicula debute bundle is up.

And to be honest, I'm a bit annoyed by this. The game was released today, and has been up for pre-order for a while now on both GOG and Gamer's Gate. Now they are handing out the game for far less in the form of a humble bundle, and a lot of people who pre-ordered the game say that they feel cheated by this move.

These bundles are getting ridiculous. Games going into them a month after release is bad enough, but a game debuting as pay-what-you-want, while having taken full-price preorders for at least 20 days prior to release, that's a certain way to alienate the most loyal and supportive customers, the ones that rushed to pre-order.

I simply don't understand why a developer would depreciate their game so much on release, unless they have zero faith in its quality and are afraid that once reviews hit the web, they won't be able to give it away even for free.

Well, far be it from me to tell indie developers their own business, I'm sure they know best. Ordered for 0.25€.

On related news, the latest Indie Royale bundle is also live, with some very interesting games.

GOG have stated that they plan to compensate people who pre-ordered the game somehow, but have not yet figured out exactly how. Apparently this came as quite a shock to them as well, and people who pre-ordered the game were directing some of their ire towards GOG.

The whole problem with indie bundles right now is that as long as a game gets even mildly successful on the major outlets, you will probably see it in a bundle after just a short while. Selling slightly older games at a discount price is not something I have a problem with, and it means that games that are past their prime can generate some extra income, but if they keep selling new games in bundles, without a good reason to do so (like say the Voxatron alpha bundle, which was used to alpha fund the game), people will just stop buying new indie titles.

And yes that is a very good bundle. Depths of Peril is reason enough to buy it.

GOG is currently having a Nordic Games sale:

http://www.gog.com/promo/nordic_charge

This includes Gothic 2-3 (but not 1), Spellforce, The Guild, Dark Fall and a few other titles that might be of interest here.

Also, DotEmu is having a sale:

http://www.dotemu.com/en/discount-sale?1939130183=1

With the DotEmu collection Vol.1 containing most of the games on sale (not Raptor or Red Baron)

Games of interest includes: Silmaris Collection and Gobliiins collection.

They gave away free copies of Machinarium and The Witcher 1 to everyone who pre-ordered Botanicula. IDK why people were mad at GoG and similar websites, isn't it the dev's fault for being shady about where they are going to sell their game?

People like to be able to blame "something". There is a reason why weathermen receive threatening leathers from time to time, when the weather turns bad on an "important" day.

Also, GOG wants to make sure that people are still willing to pre-order games through them. As they just started to do this, they need to generate some goodwill, or otherwise people might decide that it is not worth the risk. Giving away The Witcher for free might be a bit beyond the call of duty from GOG's side, but if it ensures that people still trust them enough to buy new releases, then it will probably have been worth it. And all it costs them is a few potential sales of The Witcher.

Rockstar is giving away Midnight Club 2, if you join their steam community group (I guess you can just leave it once you have the game)

New Indie gala is out, and this is a very good one. It is organized into 3 tiers, based on how much you pay (which in turn is based on the current average):

Tier 1 (anything above $1):

Making History: The Calm & The storm (Steam)

Beat Hazard (DRM free)

Razor 2: Hidden Skies (Steam)

Ironclads collection (5 games in total) (Steam)

Tier 2 (Average, I would guess)

Space Empires IV Deluxe (Steam)

Battle Mages (DRM free)

World Rally Championship Racing (DRM free)

Bad Rats: Rats Revenge (Steam)

Tier 3 (More than average, I would guess, but I don't know how much):

Disciples II: Rise of the elves (Steam) (Previous parts of Disciples 2 was in the last bundle, but this one is standalone)

Puzzle Kingdom (Steam)

Ninja Blade (DRM free)

SBK X: Superbike World Championship (DRM free)

This is probably the most games ever seen in a single bundle.

Crusader Kings series is the last game in Paradox weekend, and thus 75% off!

I've only played the demo for Crusader Kings 2, but it was incredible, probably the best of Paradox's games to date (or at least a shared first place with Victoria 2)

The base game costs 10€, or you can get the "collection", which also contains all the DLC that has been released to date for 12.50€. The DLC is just "flavour" stuff, more music, the ability to customize your ruler, make your own coat of arms and so on.

There is a King's Bounty sale going on at Gamer's Gate right now. Main attractions are probably King's Bounty Crossworlds: Game of the Year edition, which contains both King's Bounty: Armored Princess and the expansion Crossworlds & King's bounty: Platinum, which contains all the (recent) King's bounty Games, both of which are 80% off

Also, GOG is having something called Battle of the Games, where a different pair of games is matched up against each other every day for 17 days, and GOG customers vote for their favorite. The winning game is marked at 60% off the next day, the loser at 40% off.

I have somehow managed to vote for the losing game in every single one of these battle of the games promo things

Anyway, new indie bundle, and this looks like something for all you complex CRPG lovers (though the rest looks pretty nice as well):

Be Mine 3 This one contains:

Oddworld Abe's Oddysee

Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus

Avernum 4-6

Hamilton's Great Adventure

Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45

and if you pay $6 (or more)

Garsharp: The monster Slayer

Bonuses for many sold units seem to be music and a movie.

lol I'm having 0 luck here too , voted for 7th guest and recently Gothic.

Really wanted to snag 7th guest, I figured people would be smart and look at the prices of the games before voting to see which one cost more.

7th guest is 9.99, so -60% it would have been a better discount vs Myst which is normally 5.99, so -40% for it and -60% for 7th guest would have made buying both games cheaper in the end, I guess people aren't looking at it from that perspective though.

Thanks for the heads-up, Fnord.

I grabbed the Riddick Dark Athena pack from GOG.com and am already loving the stealthy gameplay.
