I just had a rather severe crash, and my regular computer is not working properly. When it starts up, I notice green lines across the screen, which look like the graphics card is giving up (again), and when I try to start my computer in normal mode, I get a bluescreen saying "page_fault_in_none_page_are". I can boot up in failsafe mode without a problem though, and the green lines are not present there (though I can't seem to boot up in falesafe mode with a network connection, for some strange reason).

Does anyone know if this is my computers way of saying that it is ready to give up, or if there is a fix for this?

*edit* The forum did apparently not like underscores in the thread title.

*edit 2* Looks like my desktop can be considered dead

I don't think I've ever been victimized by such, at least now I understand what it means.

Hope you can straighten it out.

Thanks for the link. Yes, it does clear up some of the issues. I've done a disk check (no faults found), and a RAM test (no faults fund here either), so the problem does seem to be connected with when my computer tries to use the graphics card (issues with the VRAM, most likely).

It was only a matter of time before the graphics card would give up. When a condensor on my old graphics card blew, I was given an old graphics card with a wonky fan, and I would not be surprised if it overheated and ruined something. Oh well, I'm currently on the lookout for a replacement, and I think I've found one (1½h left on ebay, and not a single bid, it looks promising).

Good luck with the auction.

I knew my old notebook was on its last legs when it periodically came up with the message "No Operating System Found" on startup. I didn't try to diagnose the problem as it was all the excuse I needed to replace it with a better one.

When you load into safe mode it loads generic drivers, so your graphics card is probably the problem.
