until they fix this, there is still a way to access older threads, add "&pg=2" to the url of the forum section, like this:
change the '2' to a different number to see even older threads

The old Quandaryland site maybe?

I don't think so; that link didn't work for me when I tried it earlier, but the name isn't terribly familiar to me. Nevermind - but thank you for the suggestion. ^_^

Hi Fnord, all the old posts are still there and can be accessed by the Page: selector on the top & bottom right of the threads list.
I got rid of the 1,2,3... buttons in favor of a select box so you can just jump to any page, as well as the next/previous first/last buttons.
If you dont see the page selector (to the far right of the New Topic button, and just above Mark Forum as Read), then can you please send me a screenshot?

Status : Offline | I'm back to seeing all gray envelopes when I use IE7. Firefox9 displays gray and orange envelopes appropriately.
The forum still doesn't remember me when I use Firefox. But it does when I use IE.
I'm once again receiving email notices of new posts in threads I'm watching. However, clicking on the links provided in the emails results in a different error message in each browser:
In Firefox
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000b'
Division by zero
/forums/goto.asp, line 71 _____________________________________
In IE:
The website cannot display the page HTTP 500 Most likely causes: The website is under maintenance. The website has a programming error.
What you can try: Refresh the page.
Go back to the previous page.
More information This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying. _____________________________________
Neither closing and reopening the browsers nor refreshing them makes any difference.
I'm unable to update my forum options (both browsers). After I click "Update Forum Prefrences," my changes aren't retained.
In IE, forum options display against a black background making them difficult to read.
When I access the Helpdesk page at http://www.justadventure.com/support/ , it tells me I'm not logged in when I am (both browsers). Are we supposed to log in a second time or something?
In the pop-up that appears when I'm either responding to an existing post or creating a new one, the preview button leads to a dead link (404 Not Found). This occurs in both browsers.
There's more, but this is all I can think of right now.

Just look at the stats -

Status : Offline | Thanks Karla,
I've fixed the login issue, so it should remember you in all browsers.
(I suspect this issue was related to the /support area as well, as it works now too)
I've also fixed the goto.asp page error when using links from the email.
I updated the My Forum Preferences page so it looks right in IE, and from my test, all options are working.
I still need to work on the editing Preview and Uploads.

The only thing out of the items you've mentioned that isn't fixed for me is the /support/ one. It still tells me I'm not logged in when I am (both browsers).

You are welcome to create your own thread with your own opinion but for me i am very glad and grateful we have a forum and a site here to viist and share on, it takes time to transition such a complex heritage site and i for one think the staff are doing a fantastic job under a lot of pressure and I am very grateful. Lets keep things positive and hope for great things to come. One chart of statistics is not proof of anything. It is the quality that is available and the resources built over decades of operation that make JAV special and above all it is the people in the community. Over holidays people are busy with many things so your charts is really no indciation of anything other than your own fears.
It does not measure or indicate the amazing friends we all have here and the hope we have for a bright future for the forum, the site and for Adventure gaming in 2012 and beyond!

I was going to add a smiley to the above sentence but I'm unable to get them to work. Is there a trick to that? When I click on one of them it's highlighted in blue, but nothing else happens. I've tried to drag them into the reply window but that doesn't work either.

The selecton boxes showed up as empty yesterday, but now they seem to work, and older threads are accessible.

That's very strange. It's all working for me in Firefox & IE8.
What browser are you using? Have you tried clearing your cache?

Both caches have been cleared to no avail.
However, I think I may have misunderstood the way smileys are supposed to work. If I pull up the menu by clicking on the smiley icon in the toolbar of the Reply to Topic popup window and use those, they work.
But I'm curious about the reason certain smileys are also displayed across the top and at the LH side of the reply popup. Are they supposed to work also?
I'm so confused!

The icons on the top of the page are the post-Type. Instead of the standard post-it icon, you can change the icon of your post. This is even more useful when creating new topics so it shows the new icon in the thread list.
Kind of an indicator of your post.
The smilies on the left, are just quick smilies translated into text.
So clicking the smiley-face one, will put : ) into your text. When viewed normally, it converts to the image.
eg. : ) : ] : D =

Hmmm...Clicking left-hand smileys doesn't do anything for me, but I can live with it.
Thanks for enlightening me about what the icons across the top do.
Is there an online manual or help files that explain at least some of this stuff?

The site was also offline in november so that may explain the loss of visitors
Or the chart might also prove that we no longer are bombarded with bots because security has been increased.
I'm very pleased that we're no longer bullied by their silly posts
