Fair enough as far as DOS goes but there is a lot more to retro gaming. Some of the hardest stuff to breath life into on new systems are old W95/98 games, especially when they were handcuffed to a narrow list of video cards or particular versions of apps like Quicktime, Indeo and so forth. A clean retro box neatly sidesteps these issues.

Ah, a good point. :/

The approach also has the virtue of forcing you to decide what you want/need to keep from a more utilitarian perspective.

Fair enough.  Indeed, if you have the old machines and operating systems lying around, it probably does make sense to set up an "old Windows" machine, at least until emulation of those Windows versions becomes more viable...

MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

*ahem*

Sorry.

I do own 2 old computers, one 166mhz P1, with a Voodoo 2 card, and one P2 300mhz with a GeForce 2 card, but their chassies have been thrown out due to lack of space, so the componenets just sit in my closet, in case I need them at some point. I don't have enough space to have 2 computers up and running right now. When I'm done with my education and have a larger apartment, I might try to find an old apple computer, so that I can try some of the games released for that.
