It might look better but there's hardly any info.  On the old site I could click the Reviews link, then click the starting letter of the review I wanted to find and then scroll down.  Where have all the old reviews gone?

Eg I searched all articles from October 2000 and typed Sherlock in the search field to try and find reviews of Sherlock Holmes games.  It came back with one article relating to a new game due for release next year but the old site had a number of reviews.  What have you done with them??!!

NO, the new site doesn't look better (where is the White House?) and, YES, there's hardly any info. The old reviews section was a treasure for the adventure gamer community, but this treasure seems to be gone and lost....

My browser bookmark for JustAdventure has been deleted.

They're working on restoring it, guys.  The site needed to be moved to new software, and they're working on getting it all back; it just needs a little time, I'm sure, since it's quite a lot of work, I believe...

I've always believed in doing the home work first and then rolling out the product. There's just far too much content that's gone missing. Have you ever tried to actually bring up one of the reviews? Be prepared to wait, it's going to take awhile.

To be more precise, I generally navigate away from the site before the content is displayed.

What?

It's becoming more and more difficult to keep faith that they will turn this site around. It was poor planning. All that background stuff should have been sorted before the site was switched over.

I miss the old mess of a site, the content, the atmosphere and the chat. It looked like shite, but it was informative and most importantly... it was on topic.

Far too many of the front page news is about games other than Adventures.

http://www.justadventure.com/news/press-release/unity-technologies-surpasses-750,000-registered-developers-37.html WTF is this about????

http://www.justadventure.com/news/game/miner-wars-2.5d-announced-36.html  ---- A Fast paced arcade game....Way to know your audience guys

http://www.justadventure.com/news/beta/legend-of-grimrock-in-beta-stages-35.html  ---An RPG

http://www.justadventure.com/news/press-release/get-games-starting-black-friday-blue-monday-weekend-34.html   --- Are any of these even remotly adventure games.

http://www.justadventure.com/news/gold/angry-birds-coming-to-the-pc-in-the-uk-in-november-33.html   --- Angry Birds Seriously  ??

That's just the last 5 news items.

I can get my other gaming news elsewhere. I come here for adventure games, but the anonymous people who have taken over the site, havn't bothered to do an introduction never mind clue any of us in on where they see the future of the site and what they plan to do with it.

They way I see it at the moment is that this site is dead and i'm pissed off that a site that boasted of having a million visitors is being treated the way it is.

Believe me, I understand your feelings, Lucien.

Due to certain circumstances, the new site had to go live before it was complete. This wasn't the most desirable way to do things, but it was necessary. In time, the site will be complete again.

Regarding the Unity Technologies press release: And now for a word from our sponsor? Seriously, unless it was posted for the benefit of developers, I'm unable to say why it's here.

Concerning posting news about so many non-adventure games, it could be that JA is expanding to include other genres. I'm not sure about that, though.

You can read a little something about new staff members in Shane's post in this thread (Shane is Digitize).

I'm sorry I'm unable to offer more definite answers, but that's all I know.

For what it's worth, the news regarding Unity doesn't seem to me to be entirely off-topic, so to speak - after all, it's an engine that could well be used for the development of adventure games (indeed, I think that Phoenix Online are using it these days, both for episode 5 of The Silver Lining and for Cognition).

MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

*ahem*

Sorry.

It did? I suppose our tastes just differ, because it looked just like an Adventure game site to me, and I liked the "prettiness" of it.  I honestly liked the way the old site looked, not too sure what was messy and what looked bad.  Navigation and keeping up with posts was also MUCH easier with the "10 most recent posts/topics"  feature, which I still miss.  Now it takes me much longer to keep up with new posts, and with a lot of the threads I simply just don't bother - too much navigation.

But what is more important, is that the old site was more informative.  The "meat" of the site, being the reviews, walkthroughs and similar informative pages, are gone.  That is the the kind of stuff that draws people to start visiting a site.

The main site was too cluttered and riddled with gambling ads etc.

the old forum was fine though, but I hated the design of the main site.

As for the new forum I use the active posts link at the top right to keep up with the new posts.

Oh, ok, I guess I have an idea what you mean, especially those gambling ads.  I supposed that earned revenure for the site, so I just looked the other way re those.

Yes, I also use the active topics link now, but the previous site showed you the actual content of the last 10 active posts/topics, whereas this feed shows you only the headings.  So then you still have to go in and make sure you click on the last page, etc, so now it's in out in out and so forth, instead of just one glance and you know everything everyone has said recently.

Yes, the gambling ads were a necessary evil to keep the proverbial root of all evil -- money -- flowing in so the site could continue. Nobody liked them, but the site might have folded without 'em. Suck Such is life sometimes.

Phew! Just managed to Log-in to the site again after a few attempts here & there over the last few months - the site certainly looks a lot different!

EDIT - I saw my Jessica Rabbit picture had gone - yeah, I saw another one but ....  there's not a lot of female friendly pictures to choose from is there! I know you can use your own - but okay I'll be an elf.

I asked about the Zork House, Trav, before the site went live. I'm very attached to it.

The new owner elected to place it in the forums.

Not sure why you would say this. We have a dedicated staff here at JustAdventure striving to make this one of the best if not the best Adventure gaming community. Yes, we have made some changes & unfortunatley some of those changes weren't as smooth as we had hoped, but we are working hard to fix everything & get all of the content that was on JustAdventure back in place.

We've also opened a new store that has free trials for most games, even large file games. Our selection of games may be somewhat limited at the moment but more products are being added each week.

If you have some constructive criticism, ideas or suggestions please let us know...we're all ears! Until then we will keep plugging away fixing bugs, making improvements, recovering the older content & diligently working to make JA the best Adventure games community it can be!
