HI Mark, glad you are enjoying the AC games too, some of the missions ARE impossible for ordinary fingers...
and i refuse to climb the tallest towers just so that the platfomers can show off, i use save games to happpily bypass such crap. And in ACII the mssion to drive the carraige with Leonadro Da Vinci is HORRIBLE< i finally made it but it was just awful so i plan to release some save games with the best levels ready to play so others can enjoy the amzing stuff like Venice and a full Florence. I dont pander to the designers who feature plating just for kicks but the design and the hsitory and the costumes are superb...and not to be missed.
I tried ACI but it was boring and so it went back inthe box, am playing II and plan to do a bit more in III but it gets just about impossible at the end, with crazy stunt levles so i will move on to IV soon. In that game we get to see Constantinople just about 100 years after the final fall of the Byzantine empire which is a wonderful thing to see re created. I am sure they will try to make us climb Hagia Sophia but i plan a save game for that too
Ah, Ravenholm. A place I shall never forget for all the wrong reasons. I can't remember when I was so grateful to see the light at the end of the tunnel, quite literally.

I quite enjoyed Ravenholm. I would not want an entire game built around that section, but it was a nice change of pace from the rest of the (already very varied) game.

Ravenholm was lots of 'fun', the light at the end of the tunnel was indeed an amazing moment.
That place was as horrifying as the offices of Black Mesa
Now back at fighting hordes of military dudes, the change of scenery is most welcome.
I sincerely hope there won't be another tentacle thingie in HL2, because that awful creature is still the most aggravating enemy i've ever come across. It can even kill you in god mode

Yes indeed, near the end all AC's seem to become too difficult, especially if there's stealthiness involved :s
The next AC doesn't sound very interesting too me, i can't imagine what Colonial America has too offer in regard of buildings and costumes...
The devs have already promised the game will be harder, because easy mode ruins their games

LOL. Seriously? Now you mention it, i was going to have a look and see if HL does GM... i still promised myself a playthrough of Doom3 in GM. Back when i originally tried it (and almsot wet my pants in places), i didn't even know cheats existed.

I'm with you on that one - and the only time i was ever reduced to using god mode in a shooter before or since - well not exactly...
I used a save game to bypass the final showdown with the Striders in HL2 - Episode 2. But that was more out of mercy to myself as felling them required special skill in the use of the 'grav-gun' [see my previous rant] and I was so tired/bored/frustrated/angered/indifferent to that piece of gaming wizardry that the game languished unfinished for a couple of years, just inches from the finish line [probably less than 5 minutes of actual playing time left]. So finally, I dl'd a save to exit the level and got to watch the final cut scene.
I don't mind the Episode format that much but would really like to see a fully fleshed out HL-3 sequel at this point..

The next AC looks to be the best of them imo.
I enjoyed the AC games but from AC 1 to 2, then brotherhood and revelations it kind of got stuck in ia "formula" and feeling more and more like the same game each time.
The new AC was in development since they finished ac1 (longest one in development) and was made by the people that made the first one (different ubisoft studios have made the others and help each other).
The setting is something fresh, and they have focused quite a bit on the rural area's (climbing/parkour in trees) as well as weather/seasons. The game has different seasons (which change in the world/same area, it's not just "this part is always snow, this part is always sunny, seasons actually come and go) and things such as snow have an impact on Conner's movement, the deeper the snow is the slower you move and when you are being chased or trying to get away you have to take that into consideration.
On top of all of this, they also have naval combat, where you can pilot your own ship around the ocean and fight both with cannons and boarding, which looks amazing imo.
As well as battlefields, where there's actual battles going on and you have to assassinate someone within that battle and there's over 1k + (I believe, I may be wrong but it was absurdly high) npc's on screen at once.
Have you seen most of the videos showing off the new things/details:

Finally started The Witcher 2 Enhanced this week and so far it plays like an UN-interactive (passive) movie riddled with ridiculously dumbed-down consolelike controls and virtually no free exploration.
Sure hope it gets better because otherwise, I will have to scrap the game and look for another RPG title worthy of playing on a PC.

Once you get to the second chapter in TW2 the game allows you a lot of freedom.
I'm not a fan of the first chapter either. It feels too much like a tutorial and when played in the wrong order it just doesn't make sense the first time

Granted the path is narrow in the prologue, but you still have to make choices that have consequences.
Like Marko says, the game opens up once you get to Flotsam.
But yes, unlike the first witcher, but like so many other modern games, there are more cutscenes than necessary, and combat and alchemy etc, has definitely been dumbed down in comparison to the first game. Still, it's still better than DA2 and ME2 in regards to being dumbed down and cinematic.

Not sure if we're all talking about the same "The Game" but I'm pretty sure I lost it too!
 arn it, Markornikov!
Edit: Is there a reason the smiley face replaces the "D" ?
Yes, it sounds like we're all talking about the same :"The game"
Brackets like these ( and ) seem to randomly produce smileys. I've found you either have to place them far away from the rest of your text, or rather use other brackets like [ or {.

In terms of graphics I think Metro Last light will be the next game to make people go "wow that looks awesome."
The first metro game, 2033, still has some of the best detailed textures in a game, the sheer tiny details you can see in a scene are amazing.
Also the recent trailer showing off the next Metal gear game looked amazing,
if you haven't watched it: (make sure it's in HD).
Video not available in your region... But I have seen screenshots from it, and it looked really nice. They've also apparently said that they aim for a more open-world experience with this game. Hopefully they will release it on PC as well (together with MSG 3 & 4).

Actually they already have said it is coming to pc, as well as xbox 360 and ps3. They said after the last metal gear they are done with "exclusives." Rightfully so as being exclusive limits their audience and in the end a game can sell a hell of a lot more on many systems, imagine if Call of Duty was exclusive, they'd lose out on millions and millions of sales.
I doubt mgs3/4 will come, at least anytime soon. There's also Metal gear Rising which isn't out yet, and follows the story of Raiden - whom was the main character in metal gear solid 2 apart from solid snake and was in mgs4. It takes place between mgs2 and mgs4 to show what happened to him.
in the time line there's (not counting the hand helds)
Metal Gear (nes/dos, Solid Snake as the main character)
Metal gear solid 1 for ps1 (main character solid snake)
Metal gear solid 2: Sons of liberty for ps2 (Main character Raiden and Solid Snake)
Metal Gear solid 3: Snake Eater (Naked Snake aka "Big Boss" the main character, a prequel to the whole series)
Metal Gear solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (Solid Snake back as main character, a very old snake though - part of his cloning process)
Metal Gear Rising: Revegance (Raiden main character, taking place between mgs2/4)
Metal Gear Ground Zeroes : Back as Naked Snake/Big Boss, not Solid Snake) Hideo Kojima has said this will serve as a prologue to metal gear 5 (which will hopefully see the return of Solid Snake....somehow).
Metal Gear 5 will most likely be next-gen (ground zeroes is for this gen of systems, but uses the new "fox" engine which is built for next gen, just scaled back).
I still need to pick up the HD collection (which contains mgs2/3) as I never did play Snake Eater since I had sold my ps2 by the time it came out.

Both MSG 1 & 2 were actually released for PC (the first one being sold as Metal Gear Solid Integral and the second one as Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance) both include some minor extras, but they were not the greatest of ports.
By the way, there were two Metal Gear 2, one for the English speaking world, and one that was just released in Japan.
I'm glad that they are moving away from exclusive deals. I wonder how Sony is taking it, MSG was one of the major selling points for their systems.
Hah funny you mention that, It's exactly why I bought my ps3 (the MGS4 bundle actually), well that an Uncharted.
I don't think sony will like it one bit, heck they probably already threw a ton of money offers at Kojima.
In the end (imo) the least exclusives the better for gamers.
I still think Sony has a few more notable exclusives though, like Naughty Dog (which Sony owns) and Quantic dream (Heavy Rain and upcoming Beyond, which looks great).

I think a lot of people were in the same boat as you. Snatching up Uncharted was probably Sony's big success this console generation.
But now they have lost two of their big selling points, if MGS is leaving them. Previously the Final Fantasy series was playstation exclusive, and sold a lot of PS1s & 2s. I wonder how the next generation will treat them.
Anyway, currently playing Eye of the Beholder 2: The Legend of Darkmoon, and I can see why this one is hailed as one of the best tile-based dungeon crawlers to date. It looks nice, it plays nice, and it is somehow oddly satisfying to draw the game's maps by hand (the game lacks an auto-mapping system)
