Oh, can I add a suggestion? Those little envelopes next to forums index are always gray. It would be SO nice to make those with unread posts some other colour, looking for new posts/updated forums gives me a big headache right now

Also, is the captcha necessary...?

New messages are supposed to be orange but they don't seem to be appearing on the main forum page.  Drew said he would look into it.  They should appear for you when you go to a subform such as Off Topic.

Yes, that is especially irritating if you get it while posting - you have to pass a test just for your post to go through, and if you fail - boom one post been a waste of time.

I do seem to be getting orange envelopes in Firefox, btw.

What's a captcha?  Is it a screen capture?

In Safari, all the envelopes on the main page are gray.

I'm using Chrome, no orange envelopes

This is captcha:

And if you fail, it gets stuck in captcha loop and never posts your message, even if you get it right T_T

Another forum that I'm on uses captcha on the first 10 posts for each new user (in order to do something about spambots). Would it be possible to implement such a limitation on this forum as well?

Ah, alright then. I had not got any captcha promts, so I just guessed that it might either be set to random.

mmmmmm…….mmmmmmmmm…………….mmmmmmmmmmmm….........................

I have not been here for a while because of problems that I am still dealing with and what do I find…..a new “upgraded” interface.  Gee, I was hoping on a Star Trek styled LCARS type interface…but, well….I guess that this one will take a while to get used to its differences.  Meanwhile…here are my “two cents” worth about it.  Just small musings from a weird little coot….ME!

More care will have to be exercised in the use of fonts in areas where their similar hues makes the fonts hard to see and read.  Workable.  I see also that the emoticons have also received an “upgrade”.  I guess it would have been nice to have planned them to be grouped according to similar genre…you know….angels with angels, devils with devils, weapons with weapons, transportation with transportation….you know what I mean.  Just a passing thought.  That way I would not have to waste time and bandwidth roaming up and down looking for all the angels to see which one would suit my intended meaning best…..    No?

The use of fonts are too monotonous…the site got an upgrade….let’s party.  Specially when dealing with HEADINGS.  The strong disparities in contrast and brightness between the outer background and the data areas will tend to make the eyes tired faster.  Especially when you may be sitting in front of the computer screen for hours.

The use of many icons throught for functions which are too small makes them hard to choose.  Yes, you will get used to it in time; still, such a small detail seems to have been lost in translation…I meant…programming.

And just one more quick observation….the reply area would be a tad more useful if there was a button or small icon that you could set up, making the text you wrote, continuously or  instantly associated and saved as a draft...maybe to your Avatar, so that you would not accidentally click on another small icon to check the page and loose everything you wrote in the last half hour….and pull out the few little hairs you have on your coconut...head;  just another little passing thought.  And then possibly not.  Will see how things go as the site ages…matures.

Anyway.......Love you all!!!!

Have you had your knee operation yet Shadow?  I remember you were in pain last year.  [Caroline searches for a suitable smiley, doesn't find one, so picks something at random.]
