I can't recall if it's a universal patch, but there was one released that corrected several video issues in the US.

Try applying this one - Broken Sword: The Angel of Death v1.1 Patch

What?

It is Quad core cpus that cause the game not to function properly, but thankfully, the solution to this problem is very simple for Windows 7 users.

Install the 1.1 patch first of all if you haven't already (not required but fixes loads of problems)

Click Start menu > in the search box at the very bottom type 'msconfig' and open this up.
Click the boot tab and then click on Advanced.
Select 'number of processors' and set this to 2.  Then restart.
You will now be able to play the game without any problems.  Just remember to change it back once you have completed the game otherwise your pc will always be running in dual core mode.

Now if you want to go a step further and get the game running really smooth and pretty (because it runs like crap otherwise) then do this.
Go to the installaion directory, by default this should be "C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Revolution Software Ltd\Broken Sword The Angel of Death
Then open the system folder and double click custom.ini
Now for every variable that is set to =0  change to =1,  apart from 'm_uiTextureQualityBias,' leave this set to =0.  Save the changes.
Also force on v-sync and triple buffering in your video cards graphic options and it should run fantastic! This allows the game take better advantage of the GPU and take advantage of both CPU cores as well.

That is some very useful info, thanks, Toozeup!  I've been keeping meaning to finish this game, but since I started it, have also moved from duo to quad core, so this is very useful info indeed.   8-)

That will alter all applications - a better solution is to alter the games executable using imagecfg (it permanently alters the number of cores it will see).  Steve Metzler has a write-up on his web site.

Sounds good! Will this work with windows 7 though, and does it work for Quad Core >to> Dual Core?  BS4 really benefits from dual core if you modify the custom.ini

Ehem! I believe the proper term is "Afro-American Figures"
