And portions of the game incorporated some light strategy elements that were a nice change from the usual game play. It's worth the tenner it's going for in the Steam sale. There's a lot of gameplay in that bundle, with plenty to see and do.

NWN 2 is fun, but the vanilla game has quite bland characters/story (one of the expansions actually had a better one).
With DA you are getting a great epic storyline wrapped up in good interesting characters with all their own backrounds/storylines to uncover.

Status : Offline | For me there is no competition between Dragon Age and vanilla NWN 2. I wouldn't even mention them in the same breath. When I get REALLY bored with my other games I'll try and force myself to carry on where I left off not even half-way through NWN2 with its bad camera, bad AI and extremely boring combat.
For me the NWN2 combat is so bad that I'll just carry on for the the story's sake when I pick up the the game again.
Regarding DA, the story is quite gripping if perhaps a little too epic, but the combat really shines. Ok admittedly I'm really getting a bit tired of fighting Darkspawn in the DLC, but there are more interesting foes in the main game itself, and let's face it, NWN2 vanilla doesn't have screamingly intersting foes anyway.
I've heard that NWN2 has nice expansions. I bought at least one of them, but I can't get through the main game to get to them...

The two worst offenders in NWN2 are the camera controls (that really don't work in indoor settings) & the horrible AI (and due to the poor camera controls taking full control of your party is not an option). What NWN2 has is going for it is user generated content, as there are quite a few good mods out there with better stories than the core game. But NWN1 has more user generated content, and you won't have to fight the camera & AI all the time. As for Dragon age, it has a good story, even if it feels a bit disjointed and unfinished, and far more interesting gameplay.
I've heard that NWN2 has nice expansions. I bought at least one of them, but I can't get through the main game to get to them.. The first expansion (mask of the betrayer) is supposed to have a very interesting story, almost similar to planescape in many ways, but much like you, I've not been able to get through the core game. The last expansion is supposed to be more like Icewind dale, i.e a more tactical game, but I can't imagine playing a tactical CRPG with such horrible controls & AI.
