Hey

I was wondering if anyone here, who maybe has ears in the computer/video game industry, has heard anything on whether Activision has any plans to either sell the Sierra brand name, revive the brand, or sell the Sierra IP's like King's Quest and Space Quest (but not the brand itself). I know Leisure Suit Larry belongs to Codemasters now, but I'm wondering if there is any word on any plans for the other franchises--It'd be nice for them to go into good hands, or for the Sierra name to be sold to someone who cares.

As far as I know, there are no plans to sell any of the brand names. The silver lining was recently released though, which is a game based on KQ, and it is free.

I asked and there is no plan to sell any of the the rights currently. Sorry. Such things have a long shelf life...as is evidenced by LucasArts reviving 10 of their older games..and with plans for more.

I've heard rumors of a new Quest for Glory game in the works. It's supposedly going to be a return to the animated style of the first four and not CG. Apparently Sierra is taking a hint from companies like Pendulo who've had success with the classic style.

All I've heard of the plot is that it has to do with a giant port city. The three classes are barbarian, thief, and illusionist.

Incidentally, the SCI engine (that which was used for Sierra adventures from King's Quest IV onward) has now entered public testing in ScummVM.  Some games should be supported next release, which will make a lot of them a lot easier to run with good sound, music and graphics.   [smiley=beer_buds.gif]

that is great news as KQ V, and VI are still iffy to get to run well, and ScummVM is a GREAT project and engine.

I heard that a toilet paper company bought the brand name.
