I wasn't attempting to analyze (I don't think I could do that), just establish some basic facts - since Aya is steadfastly refusing to provide any I must admit that I tried the old standby, Google search - but unfortunately Aya_Brea seems to be a popular nick (Yahoo e-mail search lists 15 Aya Breas!) and guess what, all of them are Parasite Eve fans No good... Some of them are actually men. Most are women, like this one, but I have no clue which one of them (if any) is our Aya. Just today Aya dropped another clue - she (I'm saying "she" because that's my current working theory) is not Spanish. The plot is thickening... I forgot my sig. |

But I will find out sooner or later, trust me don't know what kind of math you did cause i've only be talking about the early 80s, but i could also be 30, 35, 40.... 90 perhaps! Easy. You said once or twice that you started playing adventures in 1988. Elsewhere you said that you started playing adventures when you were 13. It doesn't take a genius to put two and two together i could be an immigrant living in the UK though but your way of thinking definately shows an adv gamer! Yes, you could. But there are so many other, more likely possibilities. well you have a personal experience of me being stubborn but reasonable from our own BS3 debate That's exactly what I was referring to of course no i have no problem with that (it's fun anyway!)... i only said it came as a surprise to me! Good A surprise is good once in a while. what's Occam's Razor? I don't remember the exact definition, basically it is a device used in thought process. The principle of Occam's Razor is that you consider the more likely possibilities first. So for instance when you said that English wasn't your native language, you could be an immigrant living in the UK but it is far more likely that you simply live in some other country. Your English confused me a bit though. You must have been using English regularly for quite a while. I also suspect that you picked up a lot of it informally because you make some of the spelling errors that usually indicate the results of US educational system Your reluctance to properly capitalize words also makes me think that you spend some time on IRC, online chats or similar. i could be an "it"... i could be an armchair for example! Yes. You could indeed be an alien or an advanced AI and I cannot disprove that. But again, applying Occam's Razor, it is far more likely that you're an ordinary (in a manner of speaking) man or woman. and did you come up with that conclusion only by my views on the role of women in gaming? not too much data imo... No, not too much data indeed. You are very good at hiding your gender (makes me wonder why!) I am just guessing because some of the remarks I (as a man) would probably never say. I am almost certain you're a woman but not quite. Hence the 98% figure. but if i'm a man i take your remark as a compliment And if you're a woman? i agree with Belinda btw... why not try and analyze a few more members? maybe there should be a new thread where everyone tries to analyze someone else or smth? a thread sequel i mean.... It of course doesn't always work (because sometimes truth is stranger than fiction) but it works very well most of the time. now here's the paragraph that really amazed me! (and Rael as well judging from his reply!)... Interesting. I thought it was elementary i speak english that good (not perfect though) coz (<---!!!) first of all i really love the english language... remember also that i've been playing text adventures since the age of 13 (with a dictionary at hand back then!)... i also read english books and watch lots of movies without subtitles (that's why i order lots of dvds from the uk and the usa)... It may or may not surprise you, but my history is pretty much the same. I had the good luck of attending a school with emphasis on teaching foreign languages. I started learning English in 5th grade (when I was 10 or so). Once I got my first computer (a C-64) this came extremely handy. And later on a PC, playing adventures made learning English very enjoyable. Then I started reading books in English (I've read well over a hundred by now) and watching movies with English soundtrack. And before you know it, here I am, living in an English speaking country, speaking and writing English all day most of my spelling errors are deliberate too (ie thru)... I wouldn't call this one in particular a spelling error, more of a shorthand. That's the chatroom influence. What I meant was things like "definately". as for me not using capitals, yes i used to spent some time on online chats (a certain chatroom) about 7 years ago... not anymore though Gosh, I was right then the AI was interesting... i never thought of that as a possibility... may i'm an AI programmed not to be aware i'm an AI Possibly, but I don't really believe it for a second. I've never even heard of an AI that has sense of humour and likes to tease people Personally I'm extremely sceptical about AIs. We've heard so many promises for the last 50 years or so... and they're still nowhere to be seen. imo not every man or every woman would have the same opinion on everything so judging by your own way of thinking only cannot be considered proof, not even an indication... 98% shows great certainty indeed It's not about the opinion itself, more about how you said it... OK, I'll list the remarks that make me think you're a girl: "it was indeed a woman that made female characters more popular but now female characters are designed by men (sometimes pretty obviously, see Lara Croft)". That bit about Lara Croft would sound a little strange from a man IMO. I'm not a psychologist of course and I could be wrong. Or this one: "and there are still gamers (action gamers mostly) that 'don't like game x cause you get to play a woman'". Again, this is something you clearly disapprove of. So do I, but I probably wouldn't consider it important enough to point out. A woman would. And of course there's your avatar - there are very few men who would choose a female as their alter ego. There are some but I do belive it's a little unusual. You also mentioned thay you prefer to play a female character if you have the choice. All in all, there are several little things that point in the direction of you being female and not much pointing in the opposite direction. Again, there is no definite proof, but the most likely conclusion is that you're a girl. And you like to play games with men thanx and remember... i'm a lurker Yeah, we've heard that one before everyone's got something to hide! but anyway i mean it as a game... and i didn't mean only guess the gender of a member, but generally do such an analysis for other interesting members... there are a few that really stand out as being pretty interesting characters (but i won't tell who i mean! ) If you don't tell, I don't know what to do Besides, they might not like my prying. I forgot my sig. |
