Ultima V was my first RPG. Ah, those pesky Shadowlords. I managed to kill 2 and despited theoretically knowing in which dungeon and where in the dungeon the third stone was located, I never actually found it and thus never killed the last Shadowlord. My greatest failure...
Currently playing: Dragon Age Origins, Dishonored, The Witcher, Fallout 3, Deponia

And I've told myself that i'll play through the ultimas from 4 and onwards (not counting martian dreams & savage empire), so I'll hold on to my collection.
Now if anyone wants Global domination, I'll of course send it. Heck, I might even throw in another game, as compensation.

I know there were a string of Nancy Drews. Everlight The Witcher Beyond Good and Evil Bad Mojo Gothic 3 Space Quest IV Call of Juarez I and II Bioshock ....and others. Most of these for sale in the Swap thread, BTW.

Fnord, ys you can run i think just about all of the titles on your list on XP using DoxBox, ScummVM, and some other emulators. Some are tricky and need tweaks like adjsuting Page File size...but they do almost all work.

One of the games that I have tried to get to run recently is Space hulk: Vengeance of the blood angels (at about the same time as the re-release of the space hulk board game (great game by the way)), but it is a game made for Win95 that I simply can't get to run in XP.
Thanks for the glide wrapper link. I think I found a free version of a similar program a few years back (although it might be possible that some less than honourable chap put the full version of that program on his/her website). I'll dig around a bit and tell you if I can get redguard to run fine.

| Deleted User | Hmm, i don't really want to pay that much for an app that i'd hardly ever use, just for a game that i might not even like once i manage to get it going, so i'm fiddling now with DGVoodoo, but it's turning out to be a real struggle...
I get an error message upon intitation that the software is trying to access the hard drive, but clicking the "ignore" button just closes everything, and Redguard startup terminates.

Status : Offline | As much as I hate to say this, I'm at a disenchanted phase with games. The irony is that i'm on holidays, so I have endless time to play new or old games. But right now I can't find anything I'm interested on. I browse lists of games to find something suitable to my needs, but I find that most of the best games I have already played. It's really frustrating really :
Last RPG I tried was Venetica, and it didn't grab my interest. I still have it installed and I inted to give it one last try before I eventually give up.
I got Tropico 3 in my computer for months now, and I must have played it like three times.
I was thinking of tring Fallout 3, Alpha Protocol or even re-play The Sims 3, but I know I will eventually be bored and not finish any of those.
The same seems to happen with adventure games, I finished Black Mirror 2 recently and now I feel like I don't really have other choices to play next, as most of the 3rd person games I have played already.
I'm sorry for the rambling, guess I am a lost cause.
Playing: Skyrim (ongoing)
Last Finished: can't recall, been too long.

Status : Offline | I found 2 free glide wrappers online: http://www.zeckensack.de/glide/index.html and http://dege.freeweb.hu/ I'm getting what I suspect is the same error as Traveller though, it complains about the program being a 16bit program, and that it is trying to access the HD, and then redguard shuts down.

It has been low on my list of priorities to try for, so i havent spent any time trying to tweak my copy of RedGuard into life. I think you can install and run the payware wrapper for free actualy to test it but it has a text banner across the screen until you buy it.

What type of game are you looking for ATM (FPS, RTS, RPG, Action-adventure, etc)?

Thanks for the additional links, Fnord.
Bah, I don't feel like playing with a banner on all the time.. ..and that banner looked pretty big too.

@Stiler I'm looking forward to a good RPG (good story above all) but I have already played quite a few in the genre (KOTORs, Mass Effect series, The Witcher, NeverwinterNights 2, Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines, etc). So i'm finding a bit hard to find a game that can match those I played before.
@Traveller Yeah I agree. Adventure games always work as an "escape" in times like these. I'm looking forward to playing 15 Days in the near future. I never heard of Anachronox by the way, is it good?

If you are after a good story, and in particular good dialog, then Alpha Protocol is probably the way to go, if you want a more recent game. I found the dialog tree to be really impressive. What you say to people and when you talk to them have long term impacts on the game. Future dialogs are impacted by earlier ones, and even though you are free to choose in which order to do things, the order matters in some ways. When I was playing through Russia, which was my last part, some of my contacts were talking about the earlier parts that I had visited, and my actions there (including who I had made friends with, and who disliked me, which was all up to me). The game is not flawless, in fact it has quite a few flaws, but I the impressive dialogs, and its replay value more than makes up for its flaws.

| Deleted User | (Not that I'm a pirate, I'll buy it if I like it) ;.. but I'm waiting for a friend to finish with Alpha Protocol so I can give it a spin and see if I like it enough to buy it. I'll probably wait a bit for the price to go down a bit, first.
Got too many unplayed games on my shelf, I feel a bit guilty about that.
It sounds nice by Fnord's account of it, anyway.
