sorry my post was not clear...ys, i only thought you could use the Balmora textures...but not the green stuff for the Ashlands....

if you just take the balmora textures and not the rest you will not have to have the green leaves.

There will be good ones for the nice areas too, it will be fun to dig and find em.
and we can get help from the old hands on Elder Scrolls too, they love this sort of research.

ok, Try dropping these textures into your Texture folder Trav, see if this is all that are needed for Balmora

Deleted UserThose leaves are ok for now, thanks Chris.. I'll take a bit of a trip around the island and see what this specific mod does to all the places, and report back to you.   :-*

Yes, I like to pull these packs apart and keep only what i like - but the testing can become quite time-consuming...

Deleted UserYes, just been to Pelagiad, and I like the textures there..- I just hope it hasn't overlain my textures I had in Ald-Ruhn - those were very nice..- it added some nice tiles to the council hall in Under Skar and so on.  But if it did, i'll find them and put them back.

You are right, Pelegiad is very nice, we got there in the middle of a huge rain storm, i had forggtten how scary the thunder can be in Morrowind, we were wandering out in the hills for a while when i took a wrong turn, but got back on the road and the lights of Pelegiad were so welcoming. We grabbed a room at the inn until tomorrow when i am going to go sign up for the Imperial Guard cult, as I usually do, and the Inn is very cozy.

it took a while to find the right mods to turn all the night lights and window lights on, but i am using Illuminated Windows and Mod Mans Windowlights 2.0 and i will see about Window Glow which turns on light coming IN the windows during the day.

Finally got Morrowind to run smoothly with some of the new mods and texture shaders and it is a joy to explore. The Bitter Coast remains its unchanged and inimitable self,

and so we, or rather I, for i have left my companion in Balmora for now, left for the islands.

It is a lovely journey and I had a fun chance to explore one of the Dwermer ruins perched on the coast, had forgotten about those sentry robot spiders they have lol.

on the island, i found the soldiers at Ft Frostmouth as thirsty as ever, i forgot to stock up on main land wine, so i will have to go back and get some.

I am using a mod that increases and diversifies the garrisons, giving more variety to who is posted and putting more soldiers on the walls and in various roles in the forts...and the face/figure mods i am using has made them downright handsome or beautfiful as the case may be..

btw, i found one of the face and hair mods has dramatically improved the NPCs, and found a lovely example in one of the waterfront shack taverns...a commoner with no name, but what a lovely change from the original figures...

the face and figure are completely untouched in this screen shot by photoshop or any other editing, i did remove the name tag at the top but no other changes from what is actualy in the game now.

Deleted UserVery nice, Chris.  Now you're making me feel sad that i've become busy with a bit of work and some other gaming activities which I'd set myself a time limit for.  I've decided to become more disciplined with my gaming. I know gaming is for fun, but sometimes one has to apply self-discipline even in your hobbies to derive true satifaction from it.

(If you play piano or another instrument, you need to practice; same goes for any sport - you have to apply self-discipline, so why would it be any the different with gaming?)
Even if you do art, for instance, either as a leisure or professional activity, as you well know, one has to apply some self-discipline to enjoy the satifaction of seeing a finished product (and in my case, (only an occasional leisure activity) I need to apply discipline in knowing when to stop!  [smiley=laughing.gif].. else I'll fiddle on into eternity...)

(Yeah, I'm giving myself a pep-talk here)

So yeah, no Mwind for me for a while..  :'(

But glad you're enjoying it!  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I did not mean to tempt you Traveller, just wanted to share some of the goodness. The Better Looking Morrowind texture pack is truly a work of genius, it upgrades most of the game textures from good to great and does not alter the original feel, just gives beauty everywhere, the interiors, the landscape, the Dwermer interior and machinery was wonderful to see, and I am just about to start exploring Solstehim in detail. I recall a lost airship quest i really want to get back to.

Yes i understand and agree re discipline. I try to pick my focus too, just had to pull out of a long stint developing a new texture pack for a flight sime of the Pacific islands, it was fun but a lot of work and now i must return to my own art to get things moving there...it is like herding cats really, you advance in some ways but there is lots of chaos in others.  As for Discipline, i am afraid i have just emerged from an 8 year stint in a very very overwhelming job with 18 hour days, 9 days a week, with no holidays and few days off, running a choatic and demanding center that involved among other fun things, Bridzilla weddings of all sizes......  and with my medical stuff on top of that plus some other fun things, i am in recovery from disciline
but i do understand and hope to share here, and not tempt.

Deleted UserNah, I was speaking mainly for myself, there, Chris, -just so you understand why I'm not joining you there in Mwind at this moment in time.

I've always had a problem with discipline, since I tend to have strong feelings about things; - if I'm interested in something, I can overdo things and go at it 24/7, and conversely, if it bores me, I have great trouble in forcing myself to do things I might even need to do.

In any case, I am aware of my problem and awareness is the first step towards prevention/cure, not so.

However, I am very interested in what you're posting, and will get some advice from you soon, in about 10 days or so, regarding all your pretty textures.

Nice.

PS. The Bridezilla sounds interesting - I've never heard you mention it before...

I had to find work here in a tiny mountain town as for a while some years ago i could not paint....so i took a job in the only large lodge in town, and ended up head of the marketing and Sales and Group Department for the conference center which was the only place in the area to do nice weddings, we had 11 acres of grounds on a lake with a view of the mountains...  and yours truely got to run weddings frrom 10 ppl to 1000
 and lots more
started all the online stuff for the center and the Lodge which had 100 rooms, and then started the Lodging aSsociation for the town, and ended up on the town planning board, and such and so forth......  just got free of it all in 2007

dont ever do such a job if you really really dont have to

Deleted UserTraveller almost makes a note never to do Bridezilla weddings, then halts and wonders if she might not find it fun for a while.  Hectic, understandably, but still possibly fun?

It all sounds very interesting Chris.  I like the "small town up in the mountians" part.   8-)

OK i finally got to my favorite part of all of Morrowind, Solstheim, and am exploring and getting to know it again, with the new shaders that make the water just awesome and alive, and the rest of the world over there...

i had to "borrow" a decent fur coat because the locals are not talking to me (being an Impeerial outlander) yet.....but i am enjoying some of the fun....

though not all of the 'locals' are welcoming at all....

and the new shaders really make the ocean and frozen water come alive!!!

and some improved sky textures and the Betterlooking Morrowind textue update package i am using has made the world really beautiful..

including the Nord huts that i realy want to snuggle into a fur bedroll by the fire...just like here in Colorado at the moment:

Thought I'd keep this thread recent so we don't have to repost all the screenies, (or make a new thread) since there has been recent interest, and because I love MW.

Heads up Campers..a new Texture set out from a new Morrowind team that has dynamic shadows !!!!

This is with JUST vanilla MW textures and install, no mods no nuttin but the improved shader pack. It is not happy working with MGSE btw, so some of the more complex mods would not be happy yet.

called MGEXE

I'm not convinced.  A while ago I immersed myself in Morrowind and its mods and still came up with a 2D game experience that left me flat.

Maybe I'm missing something.  However, I've never played this game and after giving it a first look, even with the mod enhancements, doesn't engage me.   Guess I'm just not an old game guy.

Here is a video of the dynamic shadows thru a day cycle....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGnmo_ZK24g

that is cool Halycon, everyone has their feelings about what is fun, i like the story in MW....and can put up with the text dialogue and older stuff...and it is fun to work on coaxing out from the game the graphics that appear to be there but just not delivering with the vanilla install.

Total Improvements;  by Povuholo

MGE with the Sunshafts shader and, if your PC can handle it, the SSAO shader. They should be in the latest beta download by default. Don't get the latest official version, the beta release is very stable and much better than the last official version both in graphics and performance. Download in here.

Just know that if you go crazy enough with the shaders and distant land settings you can get laggy gameplay with any computer.

All of Vurt's Grass and Tree mods. You can let MGE render the grass (instructions in the readme I think) which not only is better for performance, but also makes the grass sway in the wind.

Connary's texture replacers currently aren't on Planet Elder Scrolls or Nexus anymore but you can download them link above. If you're looking for the best looking texture replacer that stay close to the original style this is what you want. ..or go with Vurt all the way.

Also, Better Bodies, Better Clothes,Robe Replacer, Shiny Septims, Vvardenfell Visages (head replacer), and all of Darknut's Armor and Weapon textures.

Also the Morrowind Code Patch is essential. Fixes tons of bugs. Also has a feature that prevents rain from going through roofs, so in a way it's also a graphical improvement.

And a Morrowind Animation Replacer. Replaces the one handed chop/slash/thrust animations, as well as the walking/running animations. A huge improvement.

Oh.. my... gosh..- with the exception of Solstheim, I actually love the original strange Morrowindian landscape, but those indeed look stunning, Chris!  I must see if he has one exclusively for Solstheim!

PS: Dynamic shadows do nothing for me - they give me motion-sickness in fact, so I always turn them off if I can, so that shadows mod is one that I definitely won't be getting..

Solstheim it is

i havent gotten the dynamic shadows add on to work yet..but the strong sunlight it creates is what interests me...  yes it is remarkable what players have added to the original MW and keep tweaking.

Ooh, Chris..- that is lovely indeed!   8-)  Ok, I admit I'm lazy to sift through them all - so which one is the one you are showing above?

I'm currently playing a bit of Div 2, which I started again after Stiler mentioned it, but you're making me feel like going back to Mwind very soon...

His Solstheim, i dont know if it conflicts with Thirsk expanded if you use that..we will see when we get over there...i am still wrestling with the <MGEXE which still wont work for me..

but i found a fantastic main road texture i wanted to alert you to, it is so much better than either the default or BL MW..i have wanted to find a decent road texture for eons..it is in the first of the pics i posted of Acadian Isles Vurt mod...  i can send it to anyone who wants it, as it really is great.

Enjoy Div, i dove back into Anachornox last night and found a wonderful whole new area..that is just fantastic.
