Let's play a game. I will describe a location in an adventure game, you guess the game.

The one that guesses correctly, provides the next description....

I'll start out easy.

I'm on the rooftop of a temple, overlooking a city that is burning and under attack. Smoke rises to the sky from two locations. I see a temple on the horizon that in fact has survived in real life a can still be visited today.

Which game?

Could it be Quest for Glory too?

That the temple Cultura makes reference to actually exists suggests it is a game set in the real world, Traveler, at least to some degree, so Quest for Glory would be out.  My wild guess would be SPQR.

Hi  Cultura, is this a 'straight' adventure or is it an RPG?

JKing, the are a lot of ancient temples that still stand today so the game could be set in any time zone from between when it was built to the present day. What does SPQR mean? - nothing personal as you are not the only person that does it but I do wish that the modern penchant for abbreviations could be limited to when it makes sense!

This is a true, Point and Click adventure game of recent date.

Hint:

Spoiler AlertThe rooftop is in fact an observatory of sorts.

The aformentioned temple is still there today, but not in great shape, more like a ruin.

NB: SPQR is not an abbreviaton, but a gametitle. A sim about the Roman Empire, I think.

SPQR is actually also an acronym (Senatus PopulusQue Romanus). I think this thread should be in the trivia section.

Deleted UserNo but seriously - I often peek in there, but am usually too intimidated to play against "pros" like yourself.  It's sometimes nice to have a thread like this in which we "normal" run of the mill people can also have a bit of fun.

Sorry ppl, but SuperEdy is correct, this does belong to the Trivia section - and no, it's not his fault it's getting moved! That's why the different forum areas are there. I know that most ppl only visit the Adventure Discussion and Off Topic areas, but under that way of thinking, everything would be posted there!

I didn't say it had to take place in the present day, loobiloo, but rather that it would most likely have to take place in the real world---that is not a fictitious place like the world of Quest for Glory.

I completely agree with you about abbreviations!  However, in this case the abbreviation is the title of the game: using the expansion "Senatus Populusque Romanus" would make less sense, not more, since you wouldn't be able to search for the game by title.

So why did you have your Alphabet game in the Adventure forum then?

That wasn't really trivia, but rather a game.

Btw, I made a global post trying to get more ppl to come down here. If ppl are too bored to click on more than 1 or 2 forum areas, then I can't do anything about that.

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Well, no, but wouldn't it make more sense to move the whole AG trivia and AG member reviews sections up higher to the main section? (Like right under AG Discussions?

I mean, realistically this is an AG site. Technical support and Hot Topics aren't necessarily used for discussing AG stuff.

The Developers Zone could get dropped down to this middle section.

My 2 cents. :-/

Deleted UserWell actually, - come to think of it, Cleopatra, Riddle of the Tomb, does start off with fighting going on around you - and it is set in Alexandria.

You don't start the game off on the rooftop of a temple though... perhaps later in the game?

Is the right answer Traveler.

You start out in the garden, but once you gain acces to the main building, you go to the rooftop and have to find a way to communicate (through an ancient communication device).

Well done.

So, now it is up to you!

Well, I am on a wooden quay, and I am looking out towards a boat on a river. People can still take rides on similar boats to this day. I am in a well-known city.
