I suppose one has to play it in DOSbox?

| Deleted User | I finished the Blackwell Deception demo and I am continuing to wonder whether or not these newer episodes are still classified as adventure games or rather just follow the script, if you know what I mean. (OK perhaps Joey's blowing ability is clever, but the temptation to over exploit it doesn't add much :) I wasn't terribly excited about the previous game aside that I thought it shorter than expected but I just thought I should mention it here and check out a few other sites before deciding when or if to get the full game. :-/

I am waiting to receive the Book of Unwritten Tales which is finally available from Amazon UK and looks amazing. Has anyone played it yet? I don't know if there's been a thread about it I have been off forum for weeks now.

I'm just looking forward to a nice fun escapist adventure game. I've got Last Half of Darkness- Tomb of Zojir waiting to play as well- any good people?

| Deleted User | KING Art Games...released a playable demo of The Book of Unwritten Tales, giving you the chance to try out this classic point-and-click adventure set to be launched on October 28th, 2011. In a world torn by war, the aged gremlin archaeologist Mortimer MacGuffin harbors the dark secret of a powerful artifact. Whoever calls this artifact his own, will determine the fate of the world. While the Army of the Shadows sends out its best and most devious agents to discover the secret, the Alliance's four heroes find themselves involuntarily drawn into the crisis. The demo is 1.44GB in size.
Unfortunately it does not start with the beginning of the game. Oh well.

Status : Offline | Since JA+ vanished i had a lot of free time to spent playing Adventure Games.
Kaptain Brawe: an average point and clicker, nothing memorable. It mixes Monkey Island with Space Quest, but the humor is much less funny
Nance Drew (Curse of Blackmoor Manor): Loads of fun, until i got to two of those chore-like puzzles that seem to ruin every Nancy Drew at some point
When will the developers learn that going back and forth 5 times and doing the same actions over and over again is NOT fun.
Also i hate the typing challenge where you have to type the same lettres that are appearing on the screen, since i'm not using a QWERTY keyboard this is much harder than it should be
ps: i can't find the 'what are you playing' thread in 'other games', has it been deleted??

So far it's very easy but I am loving the artwork and the world. The music is immersive and the characters are endearing.
It's shaping up to be a terrific game- just what I've been waiting for months!

question to everyone: my post quoted above, is shown as the 'latest post' in this thread although several others have replied to it afterwards. (Maum, Inesrocks and ChrisGer)
Or is it only on my pc that there's something wrong with this thread?

Aside from the graphics and animations which are both stunning, it feels more like a fan-made game. It started off well and I don't mind the plot, as much as it borrows its universe completely and shamelessly from Tolkien and Star Wars. But the puzzles are basically non-existent and it seems they are put there to stretch out a rather thin thread of a plot. All the classic quests are there - "Find the 3 items for x", "complete the 3 trials", and they are all too easy. If you walk around clicking randomly on stuff you will make eventually progress. I don't know, maybe it's just because I enjoyed playing as the gnome but really dislike Nate and don't think much of the elf either.

Ines, as far as I know, New adventures of Sherlock Holmes: Testament of Sherlock should have been released by now, but i guess it still hasn't been... :/ I'm keeping my eye on it though, and I'm hoping they're just ironing out a few last-minutes glitches before releasing.
@ markonikov: M, the posts definitel;y seeem out of order. The post you mention appears at the bottom for me too.

There's the all too typical awkward English translation, which sounds particularly odd considering the main character is apparently a Russian living in Germany, but speaks with an extremely irritating West Coast accent. And the puzzles have been uneven, at least in the early going, and rather goofy for a game set in the real world. (No spoiler tags yet? Well, I'll be vague.) A solution for recording a certain phone conversation is one of the more novel ones I've come across, but completely ridiculous. And a key at the bottom of a fish tank can't be retrieved by simply lifting the lid and reaching in. Though I'm not that far along yet, plenty of time for things to improve, hopefully.

Last I heard, it was scheduled to be released early next year.

Hmm, I won't say anything specific; a few more socially unsettling puzzles that you do as Nina will hit you, but I actually enjoyed the setting just before you hit the very end of the game.
Perhaps it might not be too much of a spoiler if i mention that you get to play as Max too, and there's a rather fun scenario that you do as him towards the end.
Then the weirdness sets in again at the very end, but weird is not always bad, right? Except when it is cliche'd and a bit..... let me say no more...
I really didn't like Nina in the first game, but I found her such a pain in the second game that I abandoned it half way through. I'm not sorry i finished the first game though, silly puzzles and all.
@ Jenny: Oh no, I was hoping for earlier than that...
