I just downloaded Inform 7 and have begun using it. I have a problem straight away...

How do you go about writing an introduction ot the story and then moving to the next scene. E.g. How would you display the following on the game window:

The sun sets on the cloudless horizon...blah...blah...blah...

Then jump to a new scene...

Thanks.

Marc.

Just writing my first game myself.  Found this: http://www.inform-fiction.org/I7/Gallery%204-5.html

Write:

When play begins, say "blah blah blah (whatever you had in mind)."

I'm just starting out with I7 too, and must say that I'm developing a kind of love-hate relationship with it.

On the one hand I think it's absolutely brilliant in the way that it's constructed, on the other I find the complexity somewhat overwhelming and get frustrated at not being able to find HOW to do stuff that I want to do.

The documentation, again, is amazing, but there are just too many holes in it for my liking, e.g. it could do with some appendices like I6 had which lists the available phrases etc.

Still, early days for me, and I'm sure that in a few months I'll look back at this post and think "idiot!".
