I'd just like to know if I should play the espisodes in chronological order, or is it okay to start with, say, Episode 5, for example?

And if there's a specific Episode you think I
or anyone else for that matter) should start with let me know about it.

Deleted UserYou should definitely play them in the correct order. No doubt about it.

Ok thanks... I guess.. Now that means I'll have to pay a lot more than I thought. Are there any special offers? Like, if you buy one you get some sort of discount or something? Anything?

Oh, and another thing. Once I downloaded, is it possible to burn the games to a CD/DVD?

yes it's possible to burn them to cd/dvd (all 6 will fit on cd)... but every time you install, anywhere you install, you will need to be online and unlock the game (yeah, drm, what a great invention........ :
)

but since you waited that long, why not wait a little longer and get the whole package (eps 1-6), in a nice box and everything (don't know if it will still have drm), for a lot less than buying each ep seperately... it will be released by adventure company soon after season 1 is completed

I don't know about that, you know with StarForce and all? Oh, do the downloadable versions come with StarForce?

tac doesn't use starforce... at least not in their recent releases, i don't know if they did in the past... actually, all tac's recent releases are 100% copy protection free, which is highly commendable

dloads don't come with starforce... they come with drm protection, where you have to unlock your copy online every single time you install it on some computer (and yes, if telltale isn't around in a few years and you want to replay the games you're basically screwed)

That's just stupid of them. I just hope they come with alternative methods.

of course it's stupid, but some ppl just don't get it :
oh, and it's cracked btw, so if someone chooses to go to "the dark side", they don't have to worry about online unlocking and all that bullshit... if you are legit and pay you have to go thru all the crap as well... go figure... i wonder when companies will realize this (i guess never, going by what 25+ years of history has taught us......)

Telltale promised that if that ever happened, they would release the codes before they disappeared.

The story isn't very continuous, but 'the big omnious bad guy' that you get closer too is... so it's better to play the series. I bought the whole season when I first heard of it (around episode 3, I think). It's really great and very relaxing to download a game.

Yeah, well, tell that to the mob with a vendetta against online onlocking. Which you did, but I'm just emphasising a point.

the mob with the vendetta against online unlocking doesn't really feel like spending their lives watching what each and every developer's status is over the next 20 years so that they know who is going down and releasing patches... there are lots of developers that went belly up in the past, but we still have their games and can play and replay them as much as we want without having to be "alert" not to miss a patch... seriously, can you imagine ALL developers doing that? yeah right, we'll spend our lives monitoring what developers are doing..... :

I love it! I have no objection to downloading games. Although, to be honest... I won't like it if the CD version is released at a considerably lower price than I paid.  :
The game is also much better than the old Sam&Max, in my humble opinion. The story may not appear to be very continuous at first sight, but the episodes do build on each other and new characters are introduced in every episode, so it's less fun if you start playing Episode 4 and you don't have a clue who they are.

Blashphemy!!!  Go wash your mouth out with soap, or I'll sic a hyper-kinetic rabbity thing on you to do it for you!

.. just having some fun.
I haven't played any of the new "Episodes" yet.  I'm very much looking forward to them, but I'm waiting for the boxed version.  However, the original holds a special place in my heart as one of my all-time favorite adventure games, as well as one of my all-time favorite games overall.

I would say that ideally you should play the episodes in order but that it's not really a big deal if you don't.  They're basically self-contained episodes.  The reason to play them in order is there are recurring characters who you won't have a complete backstory for and there is a sliver of a story arc that progresses through the games.

I'd say play them all anyway, because they're all great, but so far I do think episode 5 is the cleverest.

Defiantly play in order  , a trophy cabinet ( well cupboard ) in there office contains souvenirs from previous episodes , and you won't have a clue what they signify if you start midway through

The  other long running jokes are [spoiler midtext] the  ever increasing prices in Bosco's inconvenience  for his "Super Weapons" ,  just love the one in episode 5  and Sybil's ever changing career as each episode refers back  to her previous one

The only thing I miss from the original game is the lack of a "USE MAX" option just to see what he would do

Playing ME3-Citadel ,TOMB raider ,Skyrim Dragonborn

Waiting fot journey down episode 2 ,Dragon AGE 3

I loved the almost developers in-jokes put in that one, on how Sybil responds to Reality 2.0, it's so typical of gamers.. on most forums
I sometimes read the Steam forums, so I had a broad grin of recognition with that.

Believe me, I've been tempted to dive in.  It's been a long time since I've enjoyed Sam and Max.  But, I currently have a backlog of games (Tomb Raider: Legend, Dreamfall, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, Vampire:The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Syberia 2, Okami.. to name but a few!) which should keep me busy until Sam and Max sees a boxed release.

Actually I was wrong, you really do need to play them in order.  I forgot a very important plot point half way through.  And of course the running jokes wouldn't mean anything.  So even though they're all standalone and would work perfectly well you would miss things.
