Don't want to bust your banana monkeyb but the reviews I saw said it was about average. Except for the graphics.
See this is what I think...99% of firstperson shooters these days are going to be average. Then there are those that have really awesome points of interest like the graphics or the AI or inventory system or something. And Unreal II has the graphics. That is probably the only reason I would buy it.

No, but really, the reviews have been underwhelming but I really need a solid shooter at the moment.
I wrote a thread "buying ag's for the sake of it" and at the moment, for me, it's either this or Aquanox; Revelation, which looks pretty good all things considered! So it's FPS' for the sake of it!
Really, my honest reason is that occasionally during work I really need a story based blaster to get rid of some excess stress. The last one was NOLF2, which was pretty good if a little standard. Nothing tops MOH though, IMHO!
I'll probably give this a run , sell it on Ebay and pick up the Revelation afterwards!

BTW - Don't know if you're a tech-head, but does $245 (£156) for an TI4400 128MB DDR Ram card with 3D glasses seem a good price to you? Or would you spend extra and get a TI4600 at $275 (£175)?

Status : Online | Well, I have it and am playing it. My opinion so far.
Hell of a shooter and graphics are out of this world.
This is not a spoiler but when you do get it, tell me if you save the guy at the generator, I tried five times and will explain after why I failed.
The Skaarj are in it. So far there nothing that would link the play to the first game except what I am collecting along the way I think. I miss the natives of Na Pali and maybe they will show up in a future mission.
Am I having a great time playing it? You bet and not sorry I got the game.
After I clear out an area, I just stop and look at everything, amazing!
Well, am now going back to play some more of it. Am on mission 5 or 6 now.
If you do get it you might want to save it for a while or make a 'backup' copy before you get rid of it in case of an addon. Of course, that depends if you like the game.
I think Splinter Cell and Indy are due to be released the same day or very close to each other.
Oh, the game is running fine, no technical bugs in the game so far.

You guys who know about these things will be in awe of the display and appreciate the graphics more than I can because I know nothing of the tech side of it but it is quite a show.

Well, soz stooge had to go to bed but thanks for answering the question! I gave up in the end, even though I got close, to buying them cos of monetary reasons! My old Radeon 8500 seems to keep packing in, which is why I'm considering an upgrade...
Gayle, whats yuor graphics card? (Radeon 9700 Pro or GeForce 4 TI5600, possibly - if it's as good as you say it is!)

Do you mean the Game Options? If so, whatever was set up when installed. The only thing I usually change if the game does not automatically accept mine is the screen setting. Or I will change control setup.
It seems that if I use 1024x then the graphics are much better for me.
If you mean options like in something technical, ahhhhh, we are in trouble.

I don't know why I wanted to say that but it felt like the right thing to do...

Stooge - in answer to your question, my 8500's a first edition built-by-ATI bought from a dealer at ebay type-deal. It has minor hiccups that piss me off, and occasional driver problems.
As for Gayle - yeah, just wanted to know your detail settings in-game and stuff. But don't worry - you just sit there and play while I wait in anticipation for the post Friday morning!

Anyway, left options as is except 1024x, played a bit with contrast, (was a tad dark), left blood and gore high, shadows, etc. as listed.
I know this is going to sound strange since I am left handed but I hate doing the WSDA thing on the keyboard and they must have know that (though you do get two preferences) and have directional arrows set up plus the WSDA thing.
Love the flame thrower, hate the gernade launcher.
Okay, remember either one of you tell me what I did wrong at the generator in trying to save the worker.
It is one of those shooters that they deliberately designed the music to make the gaming tense. You love it and you hate.
I am playing on Normal. I can't imagine playing this on Hard which is probably what you will be doing.
Stooge, you are getting it too, right?

To you and Monkeybone. I am enjoying the game, you may not but you have to take a chance on games or else you might miss a good one. Since you both like shooters, think safe that you will have fun.
I am messing around today at work since quiet and checked EB Site which says Splinter Cell will be out on 2/18 which is only the week after next, so not far off.
Indy and BlookRayne are at mid-March.
