| Deleted User | Clive Barker's Imajica with it's two worlds is reminescent of the Longest Journey... It would be an amazing background for a game I think.

Status : Online | Hi, nice thread, Gayle
there's a book named (at leadt in the spanish edition) Solaris by a russian author, Stanislav Lem. It's about a bunch of scientist who live in a newly discovered planet. They are the only living things in the planet, which has an enormous ocean of a sticky liquid material. The interesting fact is that the ocean is, actually, a living being that comunicates to the people. The book is very well written. I always thought that it could be the base for a game...

Is it a short story or a novel?
That would make a great game and do not tell me if the ocean is evil or plays with people's minds or can change their reality.
Sounds like a book I would read for sure.
Thanks!

Aggghh, Stanislaw Lem is Polish, not Russian! Most likely he hates Russians' guts, like most Polish people (and they have some pretty good reasons to)
There are probably other Lem's books that could make a good basis for an adventure game too.
Another sci-fi book that could make a cool adventure game is Man in the Maze (written by Robert Silverberg I think?).
I forgot my sig.

Yes, that is the one, although I hear Lem was not too impressed with this adaptation. There is also an older Russian Solaris movie. I've seen neither so I can't really comment.

I don't know, maybe by Philip Dick? No, I'm sure it wasn't him. I have a list of books I read and this title is on there... and I thought I knew where I had the list, but I apparently don't. Still looking though.

Am about to start a new PKD that I hadn't read called Counter-Clock World. I thought I had read everything of his but apparently missed this one.

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

I watch the TV series even though I have seen them all several times and know the outcome. Talk about the great sleuthing that would make in a game

Perhaps a series of games yeah... perhaps all the books! but that would probably ruin the ending to those who read them : so maybe as many "episodes" as the books!
