It seems this has been done before so sorry if I am too lazy to look for it.

I just opened a present from someone and it is a beautiful Egyptian cat.  The remark was made that it looked like the cat in the book/movie Portrait of Dorian Grey and it sure does look like it and remind me not to make any wishes on it.

But, anyway,  that book/movie would make a wonderful adventure game.  Any others, books especially where the content would lend itself to a good game structure.

Deleted UserClive Barker's Imajica with it's two worlds is reminescent of the Longest Journey... It would be an amazing background for a game I think.

Hi, nice thread, Gayle

there's a book named (at leadt in the spanish edition) Solaris by a russian author, Stanislav Lem. It's about a bunch of scientist who live in a newly discovered planet. They are the only living things in the planet, which has an enormous ocean of a sticky liquid material. The interesting fact is that the ocean is, actually, a living being that comunicates to the people. The book is very well written. I always thought that it could be the base for a game...

I think Solaris is the one they just released a movie on and am going to see and next time by the book store will get the book.

Is it a short story or a novel?

That would make a great game and do not tell me if the ocean is evil or plays with people's minds or can change their reality.

Sounds like a book I would read for sure.

Thanks!

Aggghh, Stanislaw Lem is Polish, not Russian! Most likely he hates Russians' guts, like most Polish people (and they have some pretty good reasons to)

There are probably other Lem's books that could make a good basis for an adventure game too.

Another sci-fi book that could make a cool adventure game is Man in the Maze (written by Robert Silverberg I think?).
I forgot my sig.

A novel, about 200 pages.

I won't say a word, promise.

Sounds like a book I would read for sure.

Thanks!
Your welcome, my thanks to you for made me remember this book and, by consequence, all the other sci-fi I have read. (Sigh) I have enjoyed so much with them....

have fun!!!

Yes, that is the one, although I hear Lem was not too impressed with this adaptation. There is also an older Russian Solaris movie. I've seen neither so I can't really comment.

No, I'm sure it wasn't him. I have a list of books I read and this title is on there... and I thought I knew where I had the list, but I apparently don't. Still looking though.

Am pretty sure it is Philip K. Dick and how come you guys can write the last name and the first time I put in a topic (a while back) it got sensored.

Am about to start a new PKD that I hadn't read called Counter-Clock World.  I thought I had read everything of his but apparently missed this one.

That wouldn't be a problem as long as Chile is merely a state of Argentina :

Well, you know, after having played so many games when you play the role of a hacker I learn how to deal with these machines!!!. Now seriously,  I have no clue about that.

yes this thread has been around before... and i'll say the same thing: We want more Agatha Christie (espectially Hercule Poirot) based advs!

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Hercule would make a great basis for an adventure mystery game.  If they can do it with Sherlock (which also love) and Nancy Drew then why not Hercule?  Perhaps a series of games.

I watch the TV series even though I have seen them all several times and know the outcome.  Talk about the great sleuthing that would make in a game

yeah... perhaps all the books!
but that would probably ruin the ending to those who read them :
so maybe as many "episodes" as the books!
