This was the first game that I managed to get almost all the way through with out resorting to hints

I was so proud when I solved some of the more complicated puzzles.  [smiley=clap.gif]

One of the most memorable games I've ever played.
The story was gripping, and the ending superb.
A 10 from me.

I'm surprised, jamarchand, because there were quite a few puzzles in there that you could solve by accident and I seem to remember you had a thread in which you ranted about such trial-and-error-solvable puzzles.

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

Absolutely, my #1 as well.  This game is a manual for how a puzzle adventure should be designed.

An absolute classic, in my opinion. Zork: the Nemesis puts the player through a wide gamut of emotions: it was funny - it was sad. It was frightening - it was calming. It played well, looked great, incredible locations...gave it the big 10.

Goodness,
It's in my 'unplayed' pile.  And here I am letting my kids have the pc all day because it's school holidays.  I see I'm going to have to get mean.
idn't realise I had such a gem waiting to be played.

I played it when I bought the Zork Anthology. That was quite a while ago (7 years or longer?) and I don't remember much of this except a laboratory with a model of the planets, symbol puzzle in relation to this, a fountain, a few cut-scenes (barely) and I think the ending. I forgot enough to give this another try in the near future (after I replayed Schnibble and Discworld).

You'll really need an older computer to play it.. on my 3 year old computer the game scrolls at lightning speed.  No fix for it that I've found.

Couldn't agree more - I recall the first few hours of Scratches having the same feeling (movement and atmosphere wise).  It was a bit difficult to replay on XP, but none the less could be done.  Maybe I'll fire it up on one of my VPC images.

What?

So having finished Return to Zork multiple times in the past (and loving it for the zany crap they threw at you) and *just* having played Grand Inquisitor - I should get Nemesis right?

I dare say yes, especially since (IMHO) it's one of the best adventure games ever made. I think anyone here will agree.

Sounds....interesting. Return to Zork always felt pretty dark (especially compared to GI) so I probably wouldn't mind the apparent change of pace.

Omigosh! Yes, I played most of the Zork games and this was my favorite (my nemesis also), I was so absorbed in the game, I lost weight AND friends! I played it back in the old days, before walkthroughs were at your fingertips. Had to solve on my own. I only wish they would fix it for Vista, have tried the 'fixes' available on the web but nothing slows down that cursor, anyone comes up with a fix, please post here.
