i used to watch or listen to every single game of the season and even went to about 25 games per year on average.
And then they went on strike, and went on strike again and went on stike again.
I quit going and watching.
I've just started to get interested again, but it is hard to stay interested when there is such disparity among large market and small market teams (I am in Pittsburgh).
The Pirates have had ten losing seasons in a row because they can't afford to compete. It is ridiculous and has destroyed this great sport that some teams can't "afford" to compete. I listened to or watched every single game this season (mostly because I was bed-ridden for most of the year). The Pirates were horrible and still won 72 games, this doesn't say much for the quality of the rest of the competition.
The thing that really gets me though, is I watched and enjoyed the playoffs and was getting pumped for the World Series.
And then the powers to be wait almost a full week after the last playoff game to start the World Series. How is this supposed to maintain interest and momentum. Right now I could care less about the World Series. The people who run this sport are unbelievable idiots.
Everything they do is for the sake of television and screw the fans who go to the games. As you may have noticed the television ratings have experienced drastic drops the past few years. When are these people going to wake up. The World Series should have been over already, not just beginning. Games need to start earlier, instead they begin at a time when they will get bigger television ratings so they can charge the advertisers more. The national pastime has become a big bore as guys filled with steroids, like Barry Bonds, smack 70+ homers a year and players who make more in one month than many of us will make in a lifetime complain about their salaries.
As you can probably guess, I get pretty passionate about this subject.

I don't disagree with your points. I just enjoy the game.
