The original Zork Trilogy

These classics were the inspiration of countless adventures. More focused on puzzles than story and with an unparalled whimsical humour, whether you're an IF fan or not, you owe to yourself to play these games.

Beyond Zork

Considered the best chapter of the Zork series and with a good reason. This was the first attempt ever to merge an adventure game with RPG elements and it was a very succesful attempt. Brilliant storytelling.
Sources: released in the compilation Masterpieces Of Infocom which is available at eBay, UGTZ, and Amazon
Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

Quite possibly the best title ever produced by Infocom, Hitchhiker's is a faithful adaptation of the book with the same name. Features the infamous Babel Fish puzzle.
Sources: released in the compilation Lost Treasures Of Infocom which is available at eBay and UGTZ
Borrowed Time

A classic detective story with some features that inspired many similar adventures.

Gateway

Among the best sci-fi games ever made, Gateway has an exciting story with some impressively designed puzzles. The sequel is just as great, if not better.

Mindshadow

The granddady of games with amnesiac characters, Mindshadow has a simple but effective parser, intriguing storyline and original puzzles. Definitely a must-play and great for beginners.
Sources: released in the compilation Interplay's 10 Year Anthology which is available at eBay and UGTZ
Tass Times In Tonetown

A quirky adventure with a funny storyline and a very unusal main character.

Please, add any other title you think everybody should play!

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

In many ways, it can be a very different world than in the older IF games. There is a lot of variety depending on one's taste.
