Confused by what exactly? I dare say there's a lot to be confused by in this thread  Or are you just generally confused?

I'm only generally confused after a long weekend - and then, it only typically concerns the "Why I continue to work"... Not to worry however.  By Tuesday, when I get hungry - I remember...

Actually, i was looking at the circle puzzle (and my eyes glazed over and rolled into the back of my head...)  As it turns out - It's a smple puzzle.

What?

So what's the solution then?

I promised to show you the answer to the game show problem, so here it is

http://cartalk.cars.com/About/Monty/

Congrats to those who got it right, and for those of you who are still adamant about 50%, don't worry. I wouldn't believe it for the longet time either. If you want to find more sites with answers to that problem, just google "monty hall puzzle"

And Inland... let's see that answer. It's not 3... and I don't want any blind guesses here. Explain why you think it is the number that it is.

1) Very confusing. I would say it must be 3 rotations, because one rotation takes 1 inch...or does it not?
Maybe that's a popular mistake being made. Maybe it's just half or even less.

Without looking at the solution I can remember enough of my math lessons to know that it in fact matters if you keep to door 2 or do not.
It all has to do with the probability in the first place. Of course, as a single selection the probability would be just the same. But it doesn't work that way. Now, let's look up the solution and check...

yes yes... the way Michal explained it and the 100 doors example made it clear... well probabilities was my weakest part of algebra anyway!

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

I think it is more and I believe the question is deliberately vague and confusing.

I still say that the smaller circle will only go through three revolutions around its own axis, however the axis itself will move and rotate, which I think will add an extra revolution.

I think the question we must ask is: from which point of view we must count the revolutions? Because, if we only look at the small circle, the number of revolutions is without a doubt three.

You mark a little arrow on the small circle, facing up. The small circle is resting on top of the big circle, sort of like a snowman (except in 2 dimensions and only 2 circles). You roll the small circle around the big circle while the big circle remains stationary. How many times will the arrow on the small circle be pointing up throughout the circle's journey around the big circle? Don't count the fact that the arrows starts off facing up. I really don't know how to better explain it... I'm sorry if the question sounds vaguely worded, I didn't intend it that way.

Another try:
It's just one revelation. It doesn't change whatever the circumference of the circles are.

That's completely wrong, isn't it?
