o they sound distinctive in German voice?  In other words, did their dubbed voices and vocal mannerisms stand out from that of other Germans?  That was part of their great appeal as actors.  Stewart spoke with an American midwestern drawl, with a lot of pauses, some repetition, and an almost stutter:  "we-well.. well... now hold on there, Uncle Billy, just hold on there for one second, one second, will you, please"   Cary Grant spoke with a British upper-class accent, faster with a certain rhythmic cadence to his voice:  "Not interested in yourself, Red, you're fascinated. You're far and away your favorite person in the world."  Both had truly unique vocal styles.

Do they sound distinctive in German voice?

I think the german "Cary Grant" really does. He speaks German the way Grant spoke English. Quite strange actually. I never really realised that until you brought this up. As for James Stewart. Well, no one can match Stewart's own voice. As you said, it's quite unique. But his german voice isn't bad. There are some characteristics that are spot on but his accent, of course, is sadly missing. But there have been worse ... and there still are ... I've just heard the dutch dubbing of Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka (it too is on DVD as a favor to dutch kids). I'm still in agony... Wimli, the Flemish Wonka isn't bad at all. He sounds like he at least understood the character! I've never quite understood why so called children's films are dubbed in dutch. When I was a kid, there were subtitles. Needless to say, I learned to read very quickly and as for the parts I didn't get, I used my imagination. Probably why I'm an adventuregamer now. Loads of imagination
!!

No guesses on the quote, gentlemen? It's not too difficult (although I must confess having an obsession with dogs does help
).

Inie, I'm doubting between two movies, both about writing. Is your quote from either Barton Fink or Shakespeare in Love?

If so, here's a new one:

"I am a leaf on the wind - watch how I soar."

Hello There!

Well... I would like to try my hand on this, just a bit.

The following are a direct quote of a film that has a particularly memorable grouping of stars.
I am giving you a hint)  It is also very noteworthy because it notes the end of an era.....or shall I say the ending of a legend! (also a hint).

Ready.....Gee I hope you do not pick it up too fast!

Stop!

Peter Manning………..

Peter Manning………..

Peter Manning………..

I am Lavinia………….

Mother of Pristesses…Keeper of the Black Secret…….

Do you know me….

I know you.

Do you know why you are here.

I do.

Are you ready to sign……….

I am.

Sign!

Rise Peter Manning…….enter our world of darkness……….

You know what you have to do!

I do.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

The pact is done.

I think this one is The Butterfly Effect, Wim.

I don't know yours, ShadowWalker.

The movie was specially chosen by me because you cannot google the script.

So unless you have seen the film before you cannot guess at it.

Okay....maybe it was a little harder than it needed to be Lady Kestrel.

The movie is noteworthy, not for the script or the movie itself.  It is only for those who enjoy bad films, depending on your idea of bad.

I love it.

It brought together 3 world famous stars who play the genre of horror.

Barbara Steele

Christopher Lee

and last and last.

Boris Karloff.  Which by the way, it was his last film, ever.

The cold and drafty manor where the film was shot, actually made Boris Karloff sick and he died right after the film ended of pneumonia.

It has various tittles

The Crimson Cult
The Crimson Altar
The Curse of the Crimson Altar
The Reincarnation
Spirit of the Dead
Witch House

That's a new one to me, ShadowWalker.

Now, since I'm pretty sure I guessed Wimli's correctly, I'm posting one of my own:

"I am not an animal!"

That's the scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz, Papabrody.

How about another movie character waxing philosophic:  "There are two kinds of men and only two. And that young man is one kind. He is high-minded. He is pure. He's the kind of man the world pretends to look up to, and in fact despises."

That was Dr. Zhivago, but I forgot the name of his business partner who said that, which is sad because I'm second generation Russian.  I guess I could just google it [smiley=doh.gif]

That's right.  The lines were uttered by Komorosky(sp?), played by Rod Steiger.

Cool!  8-) Sorry for the delay. Here's the next one, should be an easy one.
