How about this: "What's the password?" "I've come to Grandma's funeral."

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

B&W-classic, 1938, two major leading stars, top director and a few animals (one of them extremely old ...)

Ooh! Bringing Up Baby! Don't remember the quote, butthe description fits. Did you like the movie? I saw it last year, still making up my mind whether I liked it or not. I should really see it again I think.
New one:
"We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives."

I should really see it again I think. Love(d) it! I really like Cary Grant-comedies and I have a big, nah let's face it, [size=16]HUGE soft spot for dogs. Especially terriers. And if there's one fierce terrier in the history of movies, then it's George!! The quote is from when they suspect that George has buried the fossilized bone in the backyard and Katherine Hepburn (I must admit, I don't like her performance too much) is pressing him to retrieve it. George's extremely enthusiastic digging leaves Cary Grant with a boot ... I love that dog!!
Still tinking about your new quote though ... :-?

See, I don't even remember that part of the movie. :-[ Musn't have been very awake at the moment I'm afraid. It also was a rather damaged copy of the film they played at the theater, took away a lot of the charm of the movie. I should give it another go on dvd. I've also grown much more fond of older movies in recent years. :-)

think cult sci/fi, also b&w.

I guess I have to try and catch that one again this holiday season. In English that is. Everything I can remember of 'It's a wonderful life' seems to be in German, come to think of it (I grew up in the south of the Netherlands, not too far from the German border actually) ! I must admit that both James Stewart and Cary Grant have excellent voices in German (could even be better than their own ... Nah, that's not true but they're still really good!).
A new quote to keep that holiday spirit alive:
"Love, and a bit with a dog. That's what they want."
