It's when David wakes up after his first full werewolf transformation. He finds himself naked, in the zoo, in the middle of the wolf pen. Which isn't fun, take my word for it.
Anyway, he makes good his escape by swiping a young boy's collection of balloons, to hide his embarassment. When the boy's mother asks the kid why he's crying, that's his answer.
