Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned

Sierra Studios
Projected Release Date: September 1999

This one was blatantly obvious! Heralded as the savior of the adventure genre, GK3 is not only the 1999 E3's "Most Anticipated Adventure Game" but also one of the most awaited titles in the long history of adventure gaming. All eyes in the industry will be scrutinizing GK3's sales figures come this fall. Sierra is in a "can't lose" situation. If GK3 bombs, then corporate Sierra can claim that they foresaw the death of the adventure genre and justify the layoffs. If GK3 is a blockbuster success, then Sierra can claim that they knew Gabriel Knight would be a viable product and that is why they kept Jane Jensen on staff. Either way, September is destined to be the watermark for adventure gamers.
