That's when someone knocks on the door... with little caution, Paloma opens and discovers with horror a threatening man wearing a gas mask...

For several months now, special agent McPherson has been working the case of the East Coast Killer; the trail of dead young girls left by the killer has had Victoria exploring every corner of New England... Once again, Victoria is dealing with a sordid and seemingly unsolvable case that could easily send her over the edge. Her team at the FBI has changed, but she can always count on their support. But when the mind lowers its defenses, the torment of the past comes back with a vengeance...

 

Paloma Hernandez, Journalist

Paloma, a journalist whose specialty is murder cases, works for a major news channel.

Born into a modest family of Mexican immigrants, Paloma is living proof of the American dream: since graduating from journalism school, her career has hit the fast track. Smart, ambitious and plucky, Paloma has climbed her way to the top, becoming one of the country's ten most prominent journalists.

Game Summary

The East Coast Killer Strikes Again...

For several months, agent Victoria McPherson has been leading an investigation into the East Coast Killer, an elusive murderer who has just claimed another victim.

The East Coast Killer is no ordinary adversary. He first appeared in 2006, and vanished soon thereafter, leaving a dozen murders in his wake... only to resume his killing ways in January 2008. Since the case began, he has been careful not to leave any clues behind that might help the FBI's investigation.

Agent McPherson also has to deal with pressure from the media, whipped into a frenzy by messages from the East Coast Killer. Journalist Paloma Hernandez is the main recipient and bombards Victoria every day with questions and general criticism about the slow going FBI investigation.

One evening, Paloma asks Victoria for a one-on-one interview. In exchange for exclusive reporting on Victoria's investigation, Paloma is willing to share vitally important information that she has gathered on the serial killer. Victoria, however, decides not to show and moments later Paloma ends up kidnapped by the East Coast Killer...

Developed by GameCo in Real Time 3D and produced by Microïds, Still Life 2 reveals the ending of the Still Life series and spells a new investigation for Agent Victoria McPherson. This game is published by Encore in North America and is slated to hit retailer shelves in early August 2009.

While Paloma Hernandez wakes up in front of the East Coast Killer, who is filming her calmly, in Jackman, agent McPherson, flanked by Forest Garris, her young assistant, proceeds to search Paloma's room meticulously. 24 hours have already passed since the journalist's abduction.

All of a sudden, Vic receives a call, it's Paloma! With a stressed voice, she claims she managed to escape from the killer, but she remains captive on his property, an old abandoned house lost in the woods.

Vic tries to trace Paloma's call, but the result is very approximate. When Vic arrives at the site of the house, the sun is bright, police cars are parked in front of the house, the sheriff's agents search the sides of the forest, looking for clues. The house has finally been found, but what happened to Paloma? How about the killer? The house seems desperately empty... There is no visible sign of life around. No evidence of Paloma's presence there. Was Vic mistaken? Could this be the killer's dilapidated house? Did Paloma flee?

Paloma is yet to be found... dead or alive!

Developed by GameCo in Real Time 3D and produced by Microïds, Still Life 2 reveals the ending of Still Life and spells a new investigation for Agent Victoria McPherson. The game will be released in Q1 2009.

Story Line added August 29, 2008

October 2, 2008, evening

On this late evening, Vic is resting after an exhausting day. The horrifically tortured body of Audrey Dunnigan was found on the side of Highway 201, a few hundred meters south of Jackman. Audrey Dunnigan had disappeared some 10 days earlier. Having rejoined the FBI in 2005, Vic spent the entire day collecting evidence with her team. The modus operandi and the video sent to the police and the media remove any ambiguity regarding the identity of the killer. The East Coast Killer has added a new victim to his table. No clues... As usual, the body was carefully washed with several products. Once again the serial killer was flawless.

Vic turns her TV on and stumbles upon a report in Jackman itself by Paloma Hernandez, the journalist who covers the East Coast Killer's crimes for a national TV channel. Once again, Paloma openly criticizes the FBI's competence, including that of Vic! That does not prevent the journalist from calling Vic to express the desire to meet with her the same evening in order to reach an agreement whereby she would offer her so-called clues on the killer, clues obtained from a former FBI agent who investigated this case, in exchange for exclusive reporting on her investigation. Vic refuses dryly.

But a few minutes later, Paloma is abducted by the Killer in her own motel room.

October 3, 2008, night

Paloma wakes up in front of the East Coast Killer, who is filming her calmly. She is in the killer's dilapidated house, she lost her shoes and has a collar that emits regular beeps placed around her neck... The Killer begins to talk to her. He confides to her that he abducted her not for an interview, but to make her pay for her ill-thought words... She will meet the fate of his previous victims... The Killer advises Paloma to take advantage of her last moments of respite. He must leave her to finish a few small preparations before starting the big game, the game of life and death, the game of the victim and the executioner...

Still Life 2 is the second chapter in the Still Life story.  Victoria McPherson, FBI investigator, has been following the case of the East Coast Killer, an elusive serial murderer who has taken several lives all over the East Coast of the United States.  As Victoria attempts to crack the case, she meets journalist, Paloma Hernandez and forms an uneasy alliance.  Paloma claims to have vital information about the killer, but now she has been kidnapped!  Can you stop the East Coast Killer before he murders Paloma, and continues his rampant killing spree?
