How closely
will the game adhere to the original novel?
We’ve made every
effort to evoke the same look and feel of the novel in the game,
but there are many twists that make the game
appealing to those who have read the book.
Are there any
new characters in the game?
Yes, a new character named
Antoinette Marceau has been introduced to the game. As the game’s
main character, Antoinette will assist the famous Belgian detective,
Hercule Poroit to solve a terrible
murder that has occurred on the train.
Can you only
play as one character or will you be able to play as different
characters?
You will only be able to play as Antoinette Marceau.

Will the game
feature multiple endings depending on the results of your investigations
or can we expect the original, now
famous ending?
The game will not offer
the exact same experience as the book. That just wouldn’t be fun if someone knew all of the plot twists
and secrets behind the murder– so we’ve tweaked it by
offering a different, unique experience. In Agatha Christie:
Murder on the Orient Express, players can expect to meet new characters
and experience an astonishing ending that is different than the original
story.
I understand
there were some problems using the Orient Express logo. Can you
elaborate on this?
No problems really, just
a matter of respecting another company’s
name and brand. As you can imagine, The Orient Express worked very
hard to create a travel brand for itself. We respect the fact that
it wants no confusion between our game and the actual train. That’s
why we’ve made every effort to address the game as Agatha
Christie: Murder on the Orient Express.

What part will
David Suchet play in the game?
Hercule Poirot, the same role he made famous in the TV movies.
As David Suchet
has been signed for three games, one can assume that the next two
games in the series will also be based on
Hercule Poirot mysteries. Can you give us a clue as to the identity
of the upcoming titles?
Unfortunately, this has
not been finalized yet, but once we have additional information,
we’ll be sure to share this with everyone.
What, if anything,
do you think Orient Express improves on from the first game?
The biggest improvement in the game is the graphics. The graphical
look has been improved by an increase in screen resolution, more
detailed backgrounds, and higher poly count characters. This enriches
the players experience because characters and environments appear
more vibrant and detailed.
We have also added a unique hints system. It was such a great fit
to have Poirot be this oracle of sorts, where if you are stuck or
unsure of what to do next, you can go to him and he will steer you
in the right direction. In implementation this is working wonderfully.

Were you pleased
with the fan reaction to the first game?
We were very pleased with the fan reaction to And
Then There Were None and have incorporated a lot of their feedback into Murder
on the Orient Express.
As Agatha Christie/Hercule
Poirot are known worldwide, do you find that you received different
reactions to the first game
from different parts of the world?
We are extremely pleased with the worldwide performance of the Agatha
Christie franchise thus far. The game has exceeded our expectations
in both North America and Europe.

Do you think
the die-hard Christie fans are purchasing and playing the games
or is the interest currently limited only to
the adventure game community?
Our fan base for And
Then There Were None was a good mix of Agatha
Christie fans who may not be gamers, but picked up the game when
they noticed the brand name or that the game included the novel,
and adventure game fans who were looking for a new challenge wrapped
up in a classic story.
