In Moons of Madness, Norwegian developer Rock Pocket Games will explore the internal struggles of astronaut Shane Newehart and the supernatural events that occur on research station Trailblazer Alpha, the first scientific outpost on the planet Mars. The game will have a basis in hard science.

You will experience intense first-person narrative-driven psychological horror within a realistic interpretation of Mars as you delve into a mystery surrounding Shane’s past and learn the secrets behind the sinister moons of madness.

Rock Pocket is employing a unique mechanic called "zone-out" during which Shane will experience hallucinations that encompass events from his past, incidents that have not yet occurred and knowledge he doesn't actually possess. What's real and what isn't will be called into question.

To help make the Lovecraft-inspired Moons of Madness a reality, Rock Pocket has secured a third round of funding from the Norwegian Film Institute, bringing the total received to 3.6 million NOK. Additionally, the game has received backing from the Creative Europe Media Fund in the amount of 150 000 Euros as well as support from Innovasjon Norge, also a branch of the Norwegian Government.

The game is being developed in Unreal 4 for Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Its release is targeted for Q1 in 2018.
