First, some background. The Revera Corporation is a music label and publishing house based in Miami. Its specialty is "the intersection of music, art and technology." Among its unique in-house artists is VIRGO (Elizabeth Ann Clark), who identifies as an "elven alien traveler." Her forte is Ocean Tech: "otherworldly synths under dreamy vocals, with sci-fi elements and futuristic themes."
Water Planet is VIRGO's debut VR game, a single-player first-person adventure. In a distant blue world, you'll gather resources to fuel an interstellar ship. Gemini, your on-board A.I., will guide you through sunken ruins and ocean depths, to the accompaniment of music by VIRGO.
Jason Cole, Project Director, The Revera Corporation: Water Planet is a powerful example of the environment we’re creating for our artists. We want to enable them to cross the sound barrier into the visual world and tell their stories in the most immersive medium we know: Virtual Reality.
Developed in Unreal Engine 4, the game will be available on Windows and Mac and will support HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
Water Planet has been Greenlit and will be released in Summer 2017. Rivera has promised to reveal more in the coming months.
